Photos ASICS Superblast

1 / 3

If we thought we had seen it all this season, the Japanese company surprises us, and much, with the next release of the ASICS Superblast, a model that is positioned within its catalog as the lightest and most bouncy ASICS shoe in its range of shoes that do not have carbon plate. A daily training shoe that incorporates the best and most advanced technology of the brand so far as its new FF Blast Turbo foam and undoubtedly aims to be a reference model in terms of cushioning, comfort and performance.

Asics Superblast

Main features of the ASICS Superblast

The novelty of this shoe lies in the use of FF BLAST TURBO foam in the midsole. A lighter and more reactive foam offering a greater rebound sensation without the need to use a carbon plate. So far, this foam has only been used in the ASICS METASPEED, the fastest running shoe from the Japanese brand.

ASICS Superblast, main features

The ASICS Superblast is capable of delivering an ultra-smooth, lightweight, dynamic and highly reactive running experience, i.e. it combines all the benefits of the fastest and best running shoes. All this with a high midsole profile and a ventilated upper but with enough body to offer support and foot support.

Ideal ASICS Superblast Runner

We have before us a daily training shoe to accumulate large volumes of training with maximum comfort and protection for our feet and legs. But also for those quality workouts where we are going to have to run at faster paces. We could say that it has many similarities with Novablast 3 in that it will be a shoes for running at fast paces, more or less under 4:45-5:00 min/km. Possibly the differential aspect is that the Superblast will have an even greater reactivity, making them suitable for use in sessions of changes of pace and even series.

Although they are really focused on training, they are a very interesting option for use in competition, especially in half marathons and marathons where you always need that extra comfort and response. A model that will fit better in runners of medium and light weight, up to 80-85kg in men and 70-75kg in women and that present a correct running technique.

Technical specifications of the ASICS Superblast

ASICS designers have given a tremendous blow on the table, merging in its midsole two of the best compounds of its catalog and , why not say it, of the entire market. In the lower layer we will find the FFBLAST+ technology seen in models like the Magic Speed 2 and in the upper, the FFBLAST TURBO, the secret weapon of the Metaspeed Sky or the Edge+Metaspeed Sky. Surely for many of the Japanese company 's fans, a dream come true.

The Superblast have all the ingredients to be a shoe with a truly exquisite feel along with a great protective capacity, an aspect that will promote a later onset of muscle fatigue caused by the passage of kilometers. In addition, the fusion of both foams will offer a high degree of reactivity to the shoe, propelling the body in a more efficient and effective way in each stride.

ASICS Superblast midsole

Despite being focused on long runs at light to medium paces, its geometry invites you to step on the accelerator at certain times. We have no doubt that the shoe will respond as soon as we increase the pace.

The seamless mesh upper also reminds us of the aforementioned Novablast 3, a very light and breathable material that not only does not add weight to the shoe, but also helps the foot breathe during long sessions. In addition, we note an attractive design in two colors that gives a racing touch to the model.

On the lower part, it has an outsole that partly resembles the ASICS Novablast 3 TR, with a pattern with several holes in the central part that aim to increase the flexibility of the model and reduce some grams of weight. It incorporates a rubber that occupies the areas of greater contact, while the FFBLAST+ is visible on the remaining surface. An outsole that will offer good performance and above all, durability.

In words of ASICS, these Superblast will become our best allies for our long runs and tempo runs incorporating one of the lightest and most rebounding foams ever seen. At RUNNEA we are eager to test them to wear out the sole and see if they meet all the expectations placed in them, which are not few.

Review of ASICS Superblast

Our testers tell you their opinion:

8.5

ASICS Superblast, maximalist, non-carbon plate shoes for very fast running

We could say that we have closed 2022 with a bang. The RUNNEA staff has chosen me as a tester for one of the releases of the year: the ASICS Superblast, whose looks are completely deceiving. The fact that it landed during the end of 2022 makes this novel model from ASICS one of the models that is already on everyone's lips during this beginning of 2023. Even though it's a total maximalist concept, we're talking about a very reactive shoe that will allow you to run at high paces, believe it or not.

The first impressions suggested something different to me than the first time I had them in my hands. Apparently its oversized midsole pointed to one of those running shoes for daily workouts rather heavy. However, they are really light. This lightness is noticeable in every kilometer you run. The truth is that it is a real joy to run with these ASICS Superblast.

A detail that you should take into account before deciding on them. The midsole height reaches 455 mm, which means that it exceeds the World Athletics regulations, and it is an "illegal" running shoe for official competitions and to be used to prove your brand. However, for everything else, it is a model that will work like a charm.

ASICS Superblast Runner Profile

 ASICS Superblast runner profile

As a result of this ergonomic and aerodynamic design, this model is aimed at runners who run at high paces and over all types of distances, from the shortest to the longest distance.

Its great versatility makes it an ideal training shoe, but it's also a great option for those days with recovery running sessions, and even for quality training sessions for fast running.

The combination of maximum cushioning, lightness and comfort are features that do not go unnoticed, and position these Superblast as an option for different types of workouts.

What I liked most about the ASICS Superblast

What I liked most about the ASICS Superblast

Undoubtedly what has caught my attention the most about these ASICS Superblast is the perfect balance between cushioning and lightness. Despite the fact that we are talking about a shoe with maximum cushioning for training, its construction is very light for such a bulky midsole. This is the key to its success in offering superior responsiveness in every stride.

They are cushioned, yes; light, too; but very responsive.

I won't go into too many technical details, but just by telling you that their midsole includes the latest generation foams from the Japanese brand: FlyteFoam Blast+ and FlyteFoam Blast Turbo, you have the clues you need to know that with these Superblast you will be able to run fast. So getting into action with this model will hardly cost you, thanks to that shock-absorbing cushioning, lightweight and premium reactivity. Daily training Shoe for high performance on asphalt, because it facilitates the momentum of each stride for optimal and more efficient running technique.

I also keep that feeling of stability in each step, but also that comfortable upper, lightweight and offers very good support. I come back to versatility, because this is an important feature, if you want a model to run both short and long distances with the best performance.

 ASICS Superblast upgrade opportunities

Opportunities for improvement in the ASICS Superblast

In this model the sole does not cover the entire shoe. On rainy days or with wet terrain, depending on the tread we apply in uneven or curved areas, we can get a scare by not traction the entire sole of the foot. Although it is understandable that this is precisely where it achieves its light weight.

In this section, I do not forget that detail of "illegality", because they will not be valid to take part in the official competitions of the World Athletics, but it is true that for everything else they will be valid, and will more than meet all your expectations.

Of course, their RRP price of 220 is not affordable for every pocket, and we cannot omit the detail that they are expensive running shoe. Now, if you ask me if the investment is worth it, I will say yes, because these ASICS Superblast will not let you down at any time.

Final conclusions about the ASICS Superblast

Final Conclusions about the ASICS Superblast

In conclusion, this ASICS Superblast is a very complete shoe. It perfectly combines comfort, lightness and reactivity for short, medium and long distances. Its fabric finish is very breathable, with a discreet color and that you can combine without problems whatever your running outfit is. As long as you don't have racing in official competitions in mind, this ASICS model will be perfect, and one of your best options for everything else.

ASICS Superblast: If it were not for its high price, one of the best mixed shoes of the moment.

From the first time you see them, the ASICS SuperBlast captures your attention with its modern design and successful colorway. Not only do they look great, but they also offer an exceptional fit. When I put them on, you feel how they hug the foot perfectly, providing the feeling of a second skin. This optimized fit is crucial for runners looking for performance without distractions.

In terms of running feel, the ASICS Superblast stands out for its surprising combination of lightness and dynamism, despite not incorporating a carbon plate. This feature differentiates them significantly from the ASICS Novablast 4. While the Novablast 4 is known for its comfort and cushioning, the Superblast takes the experience a step further, targeting runners with a neutral stride, light to medium weights, who are looking to maintain paces under 4:30m/km. Its design is focused on providing a more electric and dynamic experience, ideal for those looking to improve their running speed and agility.

Smoothness + Reactivity: Perfect Combination

One of the highlights of the Superblast is the incredible combination of softness and reactivity in its midsole. This duality offers a comfortable feel during the run, without sacrificing the responsiveness needed to propel you quickly. It's a shoe that invites you to run faster, facilitating a smooth and efficient transition with every stride.

In terms of durability, after more than 500 km, these shoes are still as responsive as the first day. This level of durability, combined with their performance, makes them a reliable, long-term option for serious runners.

The ASICS Superblast is an excellent choice for runners looking for a lightweight, dynamic and fast shoe that offers both comfort and exceptional performance. Their innovative design and technical features make them a top choice for runners looking to take their running experience to the next level.

For runners looking for similar options to the ASICS Superblast but at a more affordable price point, there are several alternatives on the market that offer a balance of performance, lightweight and comfort. Here I present three standout options:

New Balance Fuelcell Rebel v3

This shoe is an excellent alternative for runners looking for a mix of speed and comfort. The Fuelcell Rebel v3 features New Balances innovative FuelCell foam, which provides an energetic response and lightweight feel. Its sleek design and performance-focused construction make it ideal for fast workouts and competitions. Plus, its more affordable price point makes it an attractive option for budget-conscious runners.

Saucony Endorphin Speed 3

This shoe is known for its versatility and its ability to handle a variety of running paces. The Endorphin Speed 3 uses Sauconys PWRRUN PB cushioning technology, which offers an excellent combination of lightness and reactivity. Although it has no carbon plate, its geometry and construction offer a dynamic and energizing running experience, making it suitable for speed training and long runs. It is competitively priced, making it a valuable option for runners looking for quality at a lower cost.

HOKA Rincon 3

HOKA's Rincon 3 is another great option for runners looking for a lightweight and agile shoe. This shoe stands out for its exceptional cushioning and light weight, making it ideal for daily workouts and competitions. The Rincon 3 is known for its comfort and ability to provide a smooth ride, making it a popular choice among runners of all levels.
