And it is that these ASICS Trabuco Max 2 are trail running shoes designed to offer the best comfort and response for many kilometers of trails and paths in the middle of nature. This second version, lighter than its predecessor, offers unparalleled durability and stable cushioning, an insurance for long distance.
New highlights of the new ASICS Trabuco Max 2
The ASICS Trabuco Max 2 is a trail running shoes from ASICS specifically designed to provide softness, comfort and stability to any trail runner, even over the longest distances. We are talking about a model oriented to long distances that will maintain a durable cushioning over time.
It is a trail running model for training and/or competition that stands out for its slightly lighter weight than its first version, the ASICS Trabuco Max. This feature makes it even more complete to maintain good running sensations even after many kilometers have passed.
FF BLAST PLUS technology has been incorporated into the midsole to enhance effortless shock absorption while gaining reactivity in each of our strides. This material also creates a more dynamic feel that helps reduce that weight of this new version.
The ASICS Trabuco Max 2 features the GUIDESOLE technology developed by the Japanese brand, with which we have a curved design of the outsole and the toe cap to absorb the contact with the surface and reduce ankle flexion, which will help runners feel less tired in their long duration and distance training in the mountains.
As for the upper of the ASICS Trabuco Max 2, at least 50% of the main material is made from recycled materials to reduce waste and carbon emissions. Good breathability and reflective details to improve visibility in low light conditions are some improvements over the previous version.

ASICS Trabuco Max 2, maximum comfort and less effort to rack up more kilometers
I can't complain. Second review I do for RUNNEA, and I've been lucky to get the renewed ASICS Trabuco Max 2. A model that is designed to accumulate kilometers in the mountains without rest, although I prefer that sentence that defines it as: versatile maximalist shoe option, able to offer maximum comfort, reducing the effort in each stride.
First impressions when testing the ASICS Trabuco Max 2
First of all, we can say that these ASICS Trabuco Max 2 is the improved bet with respect to its first version that came to the market back in the first half of 2022. With this new version of trail running shoe, ASICS has worked hard to give these new second version of the Trabuco Max of the Japanese brand more comfort with new materials. In this version they opted to offer: greater durability and stability regardless of the small increase in weight over the previous model.
These shoes are designed for trail runners who are looking for a comfortable, stable and durable shoe for running on terrain of not much technical difficulty, both dry and wet.
Also note its excellent ASICSGRIP outsole with its new tread pattern that will allow us to run with confidence both in training and in competitions, especially over long distances.
What type of runners are the ASICS Trabuco Max 2 for and what distances are they for?
As for the profile of runners who can use these ASICS Trabuco Max 2 we can say that they are for runners weighing between 75-85 kilos, even more.
They are ideal for runners who want for their training or competitions a shoe for light paces on terrain that does not require a lot of technique. We can also value these shoes for their maximalist design, which makes them ideal for frequent use and, above all, for medium and long distance races.
What we liked the most and strongest points when testing the ASICS Trabuco Max 2
My impressions when testing this second version of the ASICSTrabuco Max are the following (although they are maximalist shoes and are designed for a very specific target audience):
a trail runner of rather high weights, and who is looking for a more comfortable and stable running sensations with superior cushioning and high impact protection.
In other words, I have been surprised by their stability, they provide a soft and bearable stride, thanks to their cushioning that makes for a softer landing and a more sensitive take-off. With the passing of the kilometers I have been able to notice the great stability that these shoes give to our feet and ankles due to their large support surface, especially on the sides. The shape of the sole encourages us to run forward. All this, thanks to its midsole configuration with FlyteFoam Blast Plus and Guidesole technologies: very responsive cushioning.
As for the grip of the outsole mounted on these ASICS Trabuco Max 2 we can say that it is top of the range, and it is included in the higher priced models. The ASICSGRIP compound combines with a prominent and aggressive lug design to offer one of the best traction sensations on slippery terrains.
I'm not forgetting about their upper, because these Trabuco Max 2 not only add a breathable mesh upper and front gussets, but there are also reflective details to make you more visible on your mountain outings.
ASICS Trabuco Max 2 Upgrade Opportunities
Overall, while these ASICS Trabuco Max 2 offer many positive features for the type of runner they are designed for, there are some opportunities for improvement that the brand could address in future versions of the model. One such point could be their weight. Seeing as ASICS product developers have been able to optimize the midsole and outsole design over the original version of the ASICS Trabuco Max, the change could come in minimizing the insole. A detail that will reduce more grams of the shoe, and would employ an effective strategy that has already been tried by other brands in the trail running segment. Given the results, this resource works.
I also add the aesthetic aspect, because the range of colors is a little short with respect to what ASICS is not used to. If we were to get a little picky, we could include more types of designs and colors to choose from. Although I guess it's a matter of time before there are more shades available in the market.
