Make a note of these dates, if you are a true mountain running enthusiast, because from November 1st to 3, 2024 you will experience a weekend of trail running to make history. The island of Mallorca is preparing to host an unprecedented event in the world of trail running: Mallorca by UTMB® 2024.

On the aforementioned dates, the mountains and dreamlike landscapes of the Serra de Tramuntana, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, will be the setting for the first edition of Mallorca by UTMB®, a competition destined to become a benchmark within the UTMB® World Series circuit.

Four challenges, one passion

With categories ranging from the challenging 100K to the accessible 50K and 20K, Mallorca by UTMB® offers a distance for every type of runner. Each route promises not only a physical and mental challenge, but also an immersive experience in the natural beauty of the island, crossing forests, cliffs and peaks from where the Mediterranean is shown in all its splendor.

During the presentation of the event, a major figure such as Tòfol Castanyer, trail running legend and coordinator of the routes, has stressed the desire that this ultratrail becomes the flagship event for runners and visitors alike.

In fact, the commitment to sustainability and community integration is reflected in initiatives such as encouraging local participation, discounts for federated athletes from the Balearic Islands, and investment in educational and environmental projects. Mallorca 100M, the great challenge

The Mallorca 100M is the queen race of Mallorca by UTMB®, a major challenge designed for the most courageous. With 140 kilometers of course and a positive elevation gain of approximately 5,800 meters, this race is not for the faint of heart.

The race starts in the charming village of Sóller at the stroke of midnight, taking participants through the majestic Serra de Tramuntana, before descending back down to del mar level and crossing the finish line at Puerto de Sóller.

This route promises to be an odyssey of endurance, natural beauty and personal discovery.

Mallorca 5000, adventure and discovery

The Mallorca 5000 race offers runners an exciting and challenging adventure of approximately 66 kilometers with 5,000 meters of positive elevation gain. Also starting in Sóller at first light, this race guides athletes along winding trails towards Pollença, offering spectacular views and tests of endurance.

It is a perfect opportunity for those looking to elevate their trail running experience without compromising the intensity of the challenge.

Mallorca 50K, the Nature experience

For trail lovers who want to immerse themselves in the beauty of the Serra de Tramuntana without the length of longer runs, the 50K distance is ideal. With2 kilometers and 2,600 meters of positive elevation gain, this race is a true experience through nature. Starting from Sóller at dawn, runners have up to 10 hours to complete the course, which culminates in Puerto de Sóller.

This distance offers a perfect balance between challenge and enjoyment, ideal for those looking to test themselves in a breathtaking environment.

Mallorca 20K, culture, sport and nature together

The Mallorca 20K competition is the perfect introduction to the world of trail running in Mallorca. With a route covering around 26 kilometers and a positive elevation gain of approximately 1,000 meters, this race starts in the picturesque town of Valldemosa, offering participants a unique blend of culture, history and nature. Finishing also in Puerto de Sóller, it is the perfect distance for those looking to experience the essence of trail running in a more accessible format.

Considering that the surface area of Mallorca is 3,603 square kilometers, this is the largest island in the Balearic Islands. Hence, each of these distances has been carefully designed to offer runners a unique and challenging experience, allowing them to discover the incomparable beauty of Mallorca and the essence of trail running.
