Saucony Kinvara Pro: Highlights

If asked about the Kinvara Pro from Saucony's highlights, I would emphasize their exceptional versatility. They excel in daily training as well as speed work—whether maintaining a steady pace or pushing for personal bests, these shoes adapt well to various scenarios. I've used them for long runs, fartlek sessions, and progressive workouts and was thoroughly satisfied, although I prefer lighter running shoes for the most intense workouts.

Responsive cushioning

The midsole of the Saucony Kinvara Pro combines three unique foams from the American brand: PWRRUN, PWRRUN+, and PWRRUN PB. This trio achieves a perfect balance between cushioning and responsiveness—firm enough to stabilize yet soft enough to absorb shock effectively.

This harmony makes the Kinvara Pro an excellent choice for a wide range of road running.

Improved stability

With a carbon fibre plate integrated throughout the midsole, the Kinvara Pro offers improved stability. SpeedRoll technology ensures smooth transitions, promoting an energy-efficient and economical stride that feels effortlessly progressive.

Aspects to improve of the Saucony Kinvara Pro

As with all running shoes it's not all perfect, and this maximalist concept of the Saucony Kinvara Pro also has its opportunities for improvement. 

Weight

Weighing in at 269 grams for men's running shoes and 240 grams for women's running shoes, the Kinvara Pro may feel a bit heavy for some runners, especially on fast runs. However, it is important to keep in mind that maximalist footwear with extreme lightness is a complex challenge.

Heel height

The heel height of 42mm in Kinvara Pro exceeds the limit allowed for official competitions, according to World Athletics. For official competitions it will be necessary to opt for another pair of shoes.

Wear sole

Running Kinvara Pro do not have a separate wear sole. It is the midsole itself that comes in direct contact with the ground. For runners who tend to shuffle, as is my case, wear soles often suffer considerable wear- but they protect the midsole. That's what they are there for, to wear out. After 4 weeks of testing, I began to notice signs of midsole wear that could have been avoided with an external wear sole.
