If we had to define the Brooks Cascadia 10 the word would be "comfort". However, the Brooks Cascadia 9 has been accused of being a shoe for trails and paths and forgetting the more technical and rough terrain. The American brand has decided that it is time to heed the prayers of its followers and they have done so.

The Cascadia 10 is now a narrower shoe, with an even better fit but no loss of comfort. Maybe a little bit of stability, but where it stands out and differs from its predecessor is in the outsole. Now it is a shoe that grips and does so even on technical terrain.

Sole layout

It is striking that the sole has 4 pivots as if it were a wooden clog. That is to say, the shoe rests on these four points and then the rest of the shoe comes into contact with the rest of the shoe during the transition of the stride.

The midfoot area of the sole has a deeper tread pattern in the form of triangles in different directions. On the sides there are small studs in the shape of a 3 clover for grip in more technical areas when the foot is twisted and we step on that area.

Under that part of the sole we find a protection plate that Brooks has called BRS. Its function is to distribute the pressure due to the impact of the foot strike on an unstable area like a rock avoiding pain in the metatarsal area.

The rear part of the outsole has a series of tabs that provide adherence followed by triangular lugs and more pronounced grooved lugs in the heel area to receive the impact of landing and help braking on descents.

Upper

The upper of the Cascada 10 also evolves. Not only does it have a more spectacular and aggressive design, but also the seams have been eliminated and replaced by thermo-sealed seams. The toe and sides have also been protected from cuts by stones with reinforcements on both sides.

Midsole

Brooks continues to bet on its DNA foam, that is to say that it seems that it does not go to the SuperDNA that already have for example asphalt models such as Brooks Glycerin 12.

A shoe aimed at...

Trail running in almost all types of terrain, including technical running, with a wide foot and weighing more than 75 kg. Perfect for long runs including ultras with good grip and with a weight that has managed to reduce a few grams.
