Joma sierra

Joma has just presented this trail running shoe designed for runners with neutral footstep and medium build who want to train frequently on country terrain with medium or low difficulty.

In terms of cushioning, Joma has opted for the use of Blow Up material in the midsole to promote momentum in each stride, along with Full Dual Pulsor technology, a system to maximize cushioning on steep terrain.

In the heel area, Joma has reinforced the support between the ankle and the shoe, in order to avoid possible sprains that can occur in the race damaging your foot. In addition, two notorious flexion lines appear, contributing to the deformation that the shoe suffers at the time of the heel tread by the weight of the runner is only in the sole.

This trail running shoe is a very stable model due to the width of its base and the integrated geometry. Its sole is very resistant to wear due to the accumulation of kilometers and has a high profile. In addition, the front and rear lugs have a different orientation, in one case they serve to promote grip and in the other braking.

Regarding the upper, the Joma Sierra includes specific elements ideal for trail running such as a membrane made of nylon to keep out sand, an adjustable closure and elastic laces.

Protection, comfort and grip for intense trail running workouts

"Yes, a way out": Joma invites you to go out in the mountains and enjoy the environment with its new Sierra model for intense training.
As motivation and vision of the spirit with which the brand designs its outdoor material, I leave you this attractive video.

Among its main features I would highlight the following:

MULTI-SURFACE SOLE

  • Outsole of medium thickness and two distinct areas:
    >>>>In the perimeter area with an elongated heel of medium prominence that gives extra stability in off-road terrain. The heel folds are designed to counteract the deformation of this landing zone over the kilometers and give more control to the tread.
    >>>>In the central zone with a highly durable rubber and a rigid, trefoil-shaped heel, also of medium prominence.
  • The separation between studs is more noticeable in the central part to avoid excessive accumulation of mud.
  • The surface of the sole is very lugged and I highlight the protective plate between the sole and midsole that is revealed through some holes. Its function is to protect the front part of the foot from possible sharp and cutting objects typical of the mountain.

On the ground...

  • Its behavior is quite correct on all surfaces. The model has a wide last and a large perimeter lugging that also helps to have a good control. The durability of the sole is guaranteed and it will hardly wear out prematurely.
  • Logically, on very muddy surfaces, its adherence will be limited because the heel height is not very high. In this case it is advisable to take precautions or choose a model with a more aggressive heel.
  • The sole is quite curved in the front part to facilitate its adaptation on the climb and to generate an adequate impulse and transition.

MIDSOLE

In the cushioning Joma has used a dual system gear system:

  • Full Dual Pulsor is a compound that connects the midsole to the outsole and guarantees extra cushioning in the key areas of greatest impact and impulse in each stride.
  • Throughout the entire shoe and very thick, BLOW UP material that facilitates the momentum and with great recovery of the form, offering a progressive and transition of the footprint.

On the ground...

  • Considering that this model is basically for training, and can be intense, the shoe is agile, adapts well to the terrain and despite its weight the feeling is of lightness. In my opinion it is a great achievement to be able to minimize the weight of the shoe with a cushioning system and correct transition of footprint that transmits sensations typical of lighter models.

UPPER

  • Toe cap is well reinforced and well finished with rubber and leather that guarantees toe protection against impacts, in addition to maintaining the shape of the shoe and avoiding deformations.
  • Lateral reinforcements with visible stitching along both sides that hug and adjust the runner's foot.
  • Reinforced and protected heel with a new system that guarantees a good fit in this part of the foot to provide security in each step.
  • Nylon membrane of high resistance and quite closed.
  • In the folding area have incorporated a small membrane with a different braiding with the intention of avoiding premature breakage in this delicate area of the shoes.
  • Rigid lacing system with an easily adjustable closure system.
  • Tongue pocket to store excess lace and avoid snagging.
  • Gaiter on the tongue that prevents the entry of pebbles or similar.
  • Very generous padding on the ankle that adjusts and protects this area of the foot so exposed to chafing and bumps. Soft and pleasant interior.
  • Generously thick insole and shock absorption.

Review Joma Sierra by Dani Oneka

On the ground...

  • The lacing system is easily adjustable but tends to lose fit with the passage of kilometers. Although it does not come loose it is something that can be improved in future models.
  • The pocket is a very practical detail and fulfills its function. In my opinion it could use some extra stiffness to the pocket closure to better secure the excess binding.
  • The gaiter is quite effective and being elastic it adapts very well to the running movement.
  • The inside of the shoe is libre of seam chafing thanks to a soft, well-padded lining.

CONCLUSIONS

Joma seeks with this Sierra mountain training model to offer the user sensations of protection, comfort and grip on all types of surfaces, to move without haste but without pause.
