For 2017, the Pure Cadence line from Brooks receives some updates. The Brooks Pure Cadence 6 offers medium pronation control and a lower drop, making it one of the few stability shoe editions on the market that provides a more natural running experience.

Utilizing many of the same technologies as the predecessor shoe, one of the most important changes we will see in this new edition is the revamped upper, which will surprise the runner. It adapts and fits better but at the same time keeps the structure of the shoe intact to give better sensations to the foot while running.

Brooks

Upper design and fit

One of the changes that was expected in this Brooks edition and that has finally arrived is, as I mentioned, the upper fit. The 3D Fit Print material that has been used to build the upper is now softer, giving a second-skin feel; this update means that the shoe now fits more precisely to the foot, without restricting movement.

The use of synthetic overlays has been decreased in the Brooks Pure Cadence 6, which also decreases the weight of the shoe and eliminates the need for some stitching. The synthetic overlays remain on the sides, in a diagonal that meets the heel area and provides structure and support for this section of the foot. This layer joins with the lacing system, allowing the runner to manage the fit of the shoe.

Brooks

Cushioning

Brooks has found its most efficient cushioning system in the BioMoGo DNA technology, which it has been implementing in the vast majority of its shoes and these are no exception. This foam is not only environmentally friendly, but also offers superior cushioning.

With efficient energy return and ground impact absorption, this material allows for a more powerful toe-off. This also works in tandem with the support guides that have been implemented since previous versions and allow for the correction of foot torsion in pronator runners, but also facilitates the transition from heel to toe for a more fluid stride.

The midsole also features a pattern of grooves called Omega Flex Grooves that offer greater flexibility to the surface and the rounded heel promotes a softer landing by stabilizing the foot during the transition movement between the midfoot and forefoot.

Brooks

Soles

The outsoles of the Brooks Pure Cadence 6 feature a multi-directional pattern that offers increased flexibility and allows the toe section to function independently for a more balanced toe-off. The material chosen for the outsoles offers a good level of traction on asphalt terrain, although there has not been a significant improvement for this area of the shoe which could still have some traction issues on wet terrain.

The Pure Cadence edition from Brooks has become one of the company's top choices in stability and speed shoes close to the minimalist shoe line, focused on giving a more natural running experience for the foot and better ground feel than other stability shoes on the market. They deliver efficiently when it comes to cushioning and support, although with some points to improve in traction, they are a good alternative for training.
