ASICS Fuji Runnegade 2

The ASICS Fuji Runnegade 2 is a neutral shoe designed for trail running on low to medium difficulty terrain, which is capable of offering durability and responsiveness for libre adventures. In addition to its good performance on technical terrain, this shoe is also designed to offer stability and support.

ASICS has improved on the excellent performance seen in the previous edition of these shoes, with some modifications to the upper and outsole that make the shoe lighter, without affecting its functionality.

Upper features

These shoes use a closed mesh upper that offers good ventilation during runs, but also helps prevent rocks and dirt from sneaking into the shoe; the boot-like construction helps keep the foot protected and provides better support. The way the shoe has been designed allows the upper materials to hug the foot comfortably so that movements are not restricted.

Plasmaguard technology is incorporated into the upper of these shoes and consists of a membrane that while not completely waterproof, helps keep water and mud off our feet, as long as the shoes are not fully submerged in water.

In this edition ASICS has removed the prominent overlay in the midfoot area and replaced it with the classic ASICS logo placed with a heat seal, which has allowed to decrease some weight and maintain the support needed in the midfoot section, also giving an additional styling detail for the shoe.

Midsole

Much of the cushioning in this shoe comes from the gel system found in the heel area. This silicone capsule compresses to absorb impact and returns force for better propulsion. In addition to this system and occupying most of the midsole is the Solyte rubber developed by ASICS; this material is a very light, durable compound that is capable of offering excellent response to the pressure exerted by the feet when running over uneven terrain.

Outsole

A pattern of lugs in opposite directions is present in the sole design of the ASICS Fuji Runnegade 2, in a configuration that provides spectacular grip on different types of surfaces.

The 6-millimeter lugs are this time much more aggressive than those of the previous edition of these shoes and offer excellent performance in helping runners overcome the obstacles they may encounter on the most challenging uneven terrain.

Fit

The fit of these shoes maintains the features of the first version. The shoes feature standard heel and midfoot width measurements, with enough room in the forefoot area to facilitate toe movement. These sizes are best suited for runners with medium to narrow feet; some runners may need a half size larger for comfort.

Finally, these shoes are lighter than their predecessor Asics Gel Fuji Runnegade, which means that the likelihood of foot fatigue during running is decreased, helping to improve runner performance on technical terrain by providing greater agility in their movements while keeping feet comfortable and protected.
