In an incomparable setting such as the great UTMB Mont Blanc trail running festival, the adidas Terrex section of the renowned three-stripe company has presented the pre-launch of a new shoe for the fastest mountain runners: the adidas Terrex Agravic Speed Ultra. A model that comes with a number of technological innovations of last generation to ensure maximum speed in long-distance competitions.

Surely these new adidas Terrex Agravic Speed Ultra trail running shoes are the perfect allies that the members of the adidas Terrex Trail Running Team have been waiting for. Ruth Croft, Sabrina Stanley, Petter Engdahl or Tom Evans, among other names, will put this model to the test in the most demanding conditions of the legendary Chamonix race: an ultra-distance race of 171 km and a positive elevation gain of 9,963 meters.

"The development of this shoe was a true team effort. We worked closely with our Team TERREX athletes throughout the creation process including Tom Evans and Abby Hall, podium finishers in Chamonix last year, as well as course record holder Petter Engdahl. We tested a variety of concept designs, material combinations, midsole shapes and the latest technology. All of which led us to the creation of the dynamic rocker geometry; an all-new innovation designed for dynamic forefoot running," Enders said.

Main new features of the adidas Terrex Agravic Speed Ultra

The new adidas Terrex Agravic Speed Ultra introduces a new, more dynamic rocker, but this revolutionary design features a midsole with the exclusive LIGHTSTRIKE PRO foam. This translates into a perfect combination of cushioning and energy return for the purpose of adding extra speed to every stride.

Also worth mentioning are the propulsion rods that provide rigidity and lightness. All these technical details favour more agile and dynamic transitions in ultra-distance events.

In addition, the gusseted tongue provides a snug fit in the strategic midfoot area, while the seamless overlays offer abrasion resistance and a higher degree of protection.

As in the best-selling adidas Terrex models, the outsole of this Ultra Terrex Agravic Speed features a Continental rubber compound. Thanks to this material, the shoe guarantees a high level of traction for safe running on all types of terrain, even if it's wet and damp.

With all these features, it is clear that the adidas Terrex Agravic Speed Ultra is designed for experienced and demanding trail runners who are light and are looking for a high-performance trail running shoe that allows them to run very fast, but also very reliably. You should know that a prototype of this model has already been tested on podiums. For example, Pablo Villa won the Transgrancanaria, while Ruth Croft crossed the finish line in first place in the Western States 100.

When do the adidas Terrex Agravic Speed Ultra go on sale?

We still don't know all the details of its technical specifications, but the RUNNEA editorial team will be on the lookout to let you know.

However, we have some good news and some bad news. The good news is that this Terrex Agravic Speed Ultra model will be released in some very attractive colourways:

• Impact orange, crystal white and semi spark in the version for men.
• Amber, crystal white and semi spark in the version for women.

The bad news is that we are talking about a model that won't be on sale until Spring 2024, so we will still have to wait!

Finally, the starting price of these adidas Terrex Agravic Speed Ultra is €230.
