The top of the range shoe in terms of cushioning and pronation control from ASICS has arrived with several new features this time around.

The latest revamp of the GEL KAYANO, a running classic, surprises from the first moment we hold it in our hands: it is much lighter than previous versions, dropping to 310 grams in the size 445 that we had the opportunity to test.

It is not particularly spectacular in its design, although if we look closely, the high quality of the upper fabric and heel area, the padded tongue and, above all, the outsole stand out, with that structure that crosses the arch and the orientation line embedded in the groove that runs along the sole from the toe area to the center.

Both elements, as well as that piece seen in the central inner part, are intended to provide stability especially to runners with slight or moderate pronation.

At first glance there doesn't seem to be anything different, an ASICS looking ASICS. But it hides important improvements

FEELING WHILE WEARING THE KAYANO 19

When we put on the Kayano 19, the data we pointed out starts to be confirmed: they fit perfectly, the heel area fits like a glove and they are pleasant to the touch. It doesn't seem to be a particularly light shoe, but since it's designed for athletes over 70 kg and moderate paces that shouldn't be a problem.

Here what we are looking for is stability and cushioning and at the start of the run we can see that these elements that are present in the sole are complemented by the Dynamic Duomax system and the famous Asics gel that is distributed throughout most of the midsole. The result is a dynamic and secure ride - isn't that what a Kayano has to offer?

RUNNING WITH THE KAYANO 19

It doesn't provide a great response when pushing off as it's designed to enhance other aspects, but it's not heavy either and the transition is more than correct.

We liked it the most in long training sessions: a couple of 20+ km runs backed up the impression it had made, fulfilling its primary objectives from start to finish.

In tempo sessions we also noticed the quality of the shoe and its progress in terms of lightness without losing virtues, the stability of the foot is maintained when moving at higher speeds which provides security.

The only training session that passed with flying colors is on hills where it gives the sensation of not accompanying the movement, something that is normal since the support of the foot in this case is very particular.

WHO WE RECOMMEND IT TO

A classic that has been renewed, maintaining if not improving its strengths and giving a leap in quality in what was most lacking: lightness and versatility.

A shoe that can be suitable for any athlete who prioritizes cushioning and foot strike control, for those with slight pronation and in general for long workouts, especially recommended for those who move above 70 kg in weight.
