Saucony

Saucony s most popular trail running shoe receives some updates in its seventh edition, the Saucony Peregrine 7, although it remains a shoe created to adapt to different types of off-road conditions, providing comfort and a good response to the most demanding runners.

Saucony

The main change we will see in this new edition is the design, which has been improved so that the shoe fits the foot better. In the Peregrine 6 the fit era narrower, mainly in the toe area, however for this seventh edition more room has been provided to this section of the shoe, which has also been made slightly longer, this facilitates the natural movement of the feet while keeping them securely in place.

Upper

Saucony

Not only has the fit been updated in the Peregrine 7, the upper design is also modified in order to better adapt to the runner's foot. The FLEXFILM synthetic layering system used in the previous edition is replaced by a TPU exoskeleton for improved support and protection.

This "skeleton" extends across the entire midfoot of the shoe until it reaches the toe section where it becomes a bumper that protects this area of the foot from impact with rocks or other hard surfaces. All this structure that makes up the upper offers a better fit of the shoe and secures not only the midfoot but the entire foot.

In terms of ventilation, the Saucony Peregrine 7 maintains the characteristics of its predecessor, with a material that allows air to pass through and keeps the foot cool throughout the run.

Midsole

Saucony

The midsole of the shoe undergoes a slight overhaul with further incorporation of EVERUN technology for superior cushioning. The EVERUN system of the Peregrine 6 was only in the heel area, but this time it extends throughout the midsole for better energy return and responsive shock absorption.

The EVERUN technology is made of the same compounds that are used for the Boost systems seen in other shoes, with the difference that Saucony has chosen that instead of forming capsules of this material, it is spread in a single length as if it were a traditional foam.

Between the midsole and the outsole is the EBO (External Bedrock Outsole) technology, this serves as a barrier to protect the sole of the foot from contact with sharp elements.

Outsole

Saucony

Saucony recognizes the importance of outsoles in the performance of trail running shoes, which is why it uses the PWRTRC rubber compound in the Saucony Peregrine 7 This special compound designed by the company provides different types of traction depending on the terrain you are running on.

The most important detail on the outsoles are the 5mm lugs that are strategically placed on the outsole and around the perimeter of the shoe. At first glance you can see that the lugs have a hard appearance, but they are also flexible enough to bend a little to facilitate movement depending on the conditions.

With these changes to the shoe, the shoe is more responsive on technical runs and allows for a faster, smoother stride. Its technologies protect the foot well from variations in terrain while keeping it comfortable.
