1 / 3

Salomon never ceases to reinvent itself in the asphalt sector and this time it presents a new running model that prioritises comfort. We're talking about the Salomon DRX Bliss, a model that will not leave any recreational runner indifferent in their quest for effective comfort.

Indeed, the Salomon DRX Bliss are running shoes with an extra dose of stability and cushioning. At first glance, it is clear that this is a highly structured model, set to be a top choice among asphalt enthusiasts. A silhouette that comes with that Active Chassis to provide a more stable and secure run for every runner.

Salomon DRX Bliss: Profile

Main features of the Salomon DRX Bliss

These new SRX Bliss are Salomon running shoes designed to provide the greatest support seen in the French brand. It is a silhouette that is presented with the aim of fully entering the market sector of maximum stability and cushioning shoes.

While the French brand has accustomed us to more racing models such as the Salomon S/Lab Phantasm or the Sonic line, or even to maximised cushioning models like the Salomon Glide Max, these Salomon DRX Bliss come to fill a specific segment, that of support and stability.

Ideal runner for the Salomon DRX Bliss

The Salomon DRX Bliss are shoes that are designed and oriented towards medium to high weight runners, even above 80 kilos. Runners who seek maximum stability in their run, whether in training or competitions, and who maintain not too high paces.

This is a men's running shoe model and women's that will work perfectly on all types of surfaces, and will stand out in medium or long distance races, up to a marathon. A new silhouette that will delight any runner.

Salomon DRX Bliss: Details

Technical Specifications of the Salomon DRX Bliss

Some of the most important technical details of these training shoes can be found, for example, in their midsole, which features a lateral rubber structure that protrudes from it to provide the aforementioned support and stability, the Active Chassis. A point, without a doubt, that differentiates the structure of this new model.

On the other hand, we're talking about a compound, the Energy Foam, which is light and dynamic. Something that only improves a set that also stands out for having a structure with a padded ankle collar and a breathable and flexible upper with exemplary fit. All this in a model that weighs only 266 grams and has an 8 millimetre drop.

Salomon DRX Bliss: The French brand hits the nail on the head with this stability and spring shoe

Salomon DRX Bliss: A shoe that does not go unnoticed

I hadn't tried Salomon for a while. I didn't have very rewarding experiences with their asphalt models, but these Salomon DRX Bliss caught my eye because of their design. And I was also looking to try some control and stability shoes, after having tested the Nike Structure 25. They are different, you'll see, but these Salomon make me regain hope that they can live up to other big brands on the asphalt...

General features: Technology at your feet

After riding more than 60 kilometers on asphalt with the Salomon DRX Bliss, I can affirm that this is a model that will not leave you indifferent. First of all, keep in mind that we are talking about a shoe that provides support and protection of the foot, and stability. From there we are talking about a brand that focuses mainly on the mountain and therefore knows a lot about how to protect the runner. From the first moment you put on these DRX Bliss, you notice that you are looking at a different shoe that seeks to offer more than just protection. A wide last, precise support, and firm cushioning but without being hard as it happened with other asphalt shoes of the brand. But let's take it one step at a time...

Salomon has gone all out in terms of technology. With an Energy Foam cushioning system and an active chassis that provides stability, the DRX Bliss are a true work of engineering for your feet. And we can't forget the Contagrip rubber in the outsole, which offers exceptional grip on different surfaces.

What type of runner and distance we recommend them for: Versatility and performance in every stride.

If you weigh more than 80 kg or are simply looking for a shoe that offers extra support, DRX Bliss are your choice. Ideal for all kinds of distances, from a 10K to a marathon. And yes, I have tested them in different scenarios and the response has always been positive, from a 10k to a 16 km run. Be prepared for a roomy feeling in the forefoot area.

Running Feeling: Like Running on a Cloud, But with Control

From the first kilometer, you feel that the foot is protected. There are no strange movements. That the cushioning is efficient, but also that feeling of control thanks to the active chassis. It's not a shoe that allows you to go at excessively fast paces, but it does give you the confidence to push the pace when you need it. And as for the fit, the Sensifit system is just great. Your foot feels hugged at all times, with no pressure points.

Plus points

  • Balanced cushioning
  • Excellent stability
  • Versatility for different types of runners and distances
  • Superior fit thanks to the Sensifit system
  • The grip is spectacular

Possible points for improvement

  • I still find the cushioning too firm. It's clear that it provides greater control of the stride, but it lacks some comfort.
  • Aesthetically, you have to like the Salomon style. I love it.

Rivals in the market: The competition has a tough time

When we talk about stability shoes, there are several models that come to mind as possible competitors to the Salomon DRX Bliss. Among them, the Asics Kayano 30, the New Balance Vongo v6 and the Nike Structure 25 stand out.

Asics Kayano 30

The Asics Kayano 30 is a classic in the running world and offers soft cushioning thanks to its GEL technology. However, while they are comfortable, they don't quite reach the level of support and stability offered by DRX Bliss. They are ideal for those looking for a softer ride but are willing to sacrifice some control.

New Balance Vongo v6

The New Balance Vongo v6 also offers fairly soft cushioning and is known for its comfort. But like the Kayano, they lack the level of support that DRX Bliss can offer, especially on longer runs where fatigue takes its toll.

Nike Structure 25

Finally, the Nike Structure 25 is another popular choice among runners looking for stability. Their cushioning is soft and they offer good performance, but again, they don't quite reach the level of support that I've experienced with DRX Bliss.
Conclusion: A Shoe for Demanding Runners

If you're looking for a shoe that offers more than just miles, the Salomon DRX Bliss is an excellent choice. With technology that shows in every stride and performance that holds up to even the longest of runs, these shoes have earned a place in my regular rotation of supportive shoes. And I'll tell you the truth, I've even used them in my handball games with friends and the sensations are more than positive.
