If the Italian firm La Sportiva has been aware of something, it is that constant improvement is one of the indispensable points to gain and maintain its position among the users of its shoes. That is why for their new launch of trailrunning shoes, La Sportiva Akyra, they have opted for the best qualities of other lines of their models that have already been successful, such as the Raptor, Bushido and Akasha, to create a shoe for technical terrain in which comfort becomes a strong point.

These shoes are perfect for racing on technical terrain and long distances, offering a good level of protection to the foot to face the obstacles along the way, but also maintaining the lightness for a fast pace.

Upper of La Sportiva Akyra

Since the shoes are meant to adapt to technical terrain, they feature an upper composed of three layers of material that not only provides ventilation and comfort, but also helps keep loose materials from penetrating the interior and causing discomfort; this upper is also able to offer some level of waterproofing although this is not one of its strongest features.

On the outer layer of the upper are the MicroLite Skeleton and Flex-Guard technologies. These technologies consist in the use of different synthetic layers which are strategically placed all over the upper to give a better structure to the shoe and to protect the vulnerable parts of the foot. These layers are thermo-sealed together to provide a seamless surface that is softer to the touch.

Following this layer is a cushioned material with similar characteristics to neoprene, but with a very soft feel and with well elaborated finishes, which guarantee the comfort of the foot at all times.

Midsole

The shoe's cushioning is provided by a layer of injected EVA rubber which adapts well to the pressure exerted by the foot during the race and maintains a good response in the return of energy for a smoother take-off.

In the heel area a TPU reinforcement has been placed to make the area more resistant to impacts. All this set of protections make the shoe finally present a drop of 9 millimeters, which allows a fairly safe surface for the foot that will maintain comfort on all types of surfaces and protects the sole of this from contact with rocks or other sharp elements that exist on the road.

Sportviva Akyra Outsole

The soles of the La Sportiva Akyra shoe feature a high-strength rubber and multi-terrain design that allows the shoes to adapt to the demands of trail running. The sole uses a compound called FriXion XT Red, which is made in two densities, being harder in the area of the inner toe and heel, so the soles are able to withstand abrasion and wear.

The lugs are made in a pattern of hexagons that fit together like puzzle pieces, having a consistency and medium size, they favor grip but also maintain flexibility, even on flatter and harder surfaces.
