The summer of 2024 a new La Sportiva model will be release, one that will be very different from what we are used to seeing in the Italian brand. It's La Sportiva Prodigio, a lightweight shoe that will lack the great protections and structure that characterise the brand.
La Sportiva Prodigio will be a very versatile trail running shoe largely intended for running on trails and paths of little technical difficulty, a shoe that strays from the DNA of the brand and which will also feature new technologies and materials.
What are the expectations for the La Sportiva Prodigio?
One of the great novelties of this La Sportiva model focuses on the midsole compound, a midsole that for the first time in the brand will feature an EVA foam with infused nitrogen to provide lightness, cushioning and reactivity.
Also note that the midsole of the shoe will integrate a full plate, from the rear to the front, to provide that extra reactivity needed if we want to run at fast paces on forest paths or trails.
The upper of the La Sportiva Prodigio will feature a lightweight mesh that will provide great breathability when running on those trails and forest tracks with little technical difficulty.
The shoe will feature a 6 mm drop, with high profiles, as it will have 34 mm in the rear of the shoe and 28 mm in the front.
The sole of La Sportiva Prodigio will be divided into two distinct parts, both with the compound developed by the brand, FriXion. In the front, it will have the FriXion Red, which provides an optimal combination of grip, wear resistance and shock absorption. In the rear part of the sole, it will have the FriXion Blue that will provide us with the necessary durability to run kilometres and kilometres with the shoe.
La Sportiva Prodigio will be one of the lightest shoes of the brand, with a weight below 300 grams and runners of light or even medium weight and neutral gait will be able to get the most out of this shoe that we could classify it within the category of "door to trail" in which the Italian brand still didn't have a shoe for this profile of runners.
