Running with the KD900 is a pleasant and balanced experience. From the first steps, they feel comfortable and cozy. Up'bar technology in the outsole provides dynamic response, while K-Ring cushioning ensures a smooth transition. The outsole offers reliable grip on a variety of surfaces, and the response doesn't let up, even when fatigue starts to set in. The feel on the foot is supportive and comfortable, with a responsiveness that invites you to pick up the pace.

Our sensations in detail:

Sensations in the first strides with the Kiprun KD900: From the first steps, the KD900 feel comfortable and with a pleasant feel at gentle paces. The midsole absorbs shock well and efficiently, and the stride transition is remarkably smooth.

Varied paces: As the pace increases, the Up'bar technology in the outsole starts to shine, providing a dynamic response that is especially felt in sprints and changes of pace. The shoe adapts well to different speeds, allowing for versatile running.

Cushioning and support: The cushioning is sufficient without being too soft, offering a good balance between support and ground feel. This translates into a stable and controlled ride, even over longer distances.

Fit and comfort: The fit is comfortable and secure, with sufficient toe box clearance and adequate midfoot support. The tongue and heel collar (very lightweight mind you) offer soft support that avoids pressure points.

Grip and traction: The outsole provides good grip on a variety of surfaces, from paved roads to dirt trails. Traction feels secure even in wet conditions.

Fatigue Response: Even when fatigue begins to set in, the KD900 maintain their comfort and support. Cushioning remains efficient, and responsiveness does not diminish, helping to maintain proper running technique.

Recommended distances

KD900 are versatile and adapt to different distances. The lightness and responsiveness are ideal for 5K and 10K races, while the cushioning and support make them suitable for half marathons and daily workouts. Although we could use them for longer distances, the cushioning and especially the support may not be enough to run for example a marathon, if your running technique is not very efficient. But the combination of lightness and cushioning makes them a solid choice for a variety of distances and paces.

Our recommendation: Perfect for 10k and half marathon races at 4:15 to slower paces.

What I liked the most

• Differential design: I loved the midsole. The design and geometry of the sole are truly unique and offer a different running experience than anything I've tried before.
• Responsive cushioning: The Pebax® foam offers very responsive cushioning, providing an energized feel with every step.
• Lightweight: The Kiprun KD900 is surprisingly light, which makes it a very versatile shoe for both fast runs and more leisurely rides.
• Grip: Very good wet and cornering grip, providing confidence in variable conditions.

Possible improvements

• Foot support: Perhaps it would add a little more stability to the model. It is a shoe for light to medium weight runners. It has little structure in the heel and the "donut" shape in that area can be perceived as somewhat unstable for heavier runners and heel strikers.
