The Joma Sima 2023 is a model that, currently, we can only find in the men's version and it is one of the fastest and lightest trail running shoes of the brand.
The Joma Sima 2023 is a trail running shoe that incorporates some of the most outstanding technologies of the brand and that we detail below.
Main features of the Joma Sima 2023
Joma has designed this new model of trail running shoe that is intended for all those runners of light weight, even medium with a neutral or supinator tread technique, with which they will be able to run fast in the mountains, of course, as long as they are on terrain or trails with little technical difficulty.
The upper of the Joma Sima 2023 is made of a breathable and resistant Jacquard mesh with perforations that promote ventilation, made with the VTS system, which allows air to enter and exit. It incorporates synthetic inserts of the JOMA SPORTECH system to protect the foot in the toe and sides and give the shoe stability without adding weight.
In addition, these shoes provide lasting comfort due to the fit provided by the 100% elastic tongue and elastane linings. They feature LACE POCKET elastic to store the laces during our workouts or races in the mountains.
The midsole of the shoe is composed of a single piece of phylon FOAM REACTIVE that provides excellent cushioning, very necessary in mountain terrain and in fast paces, for which these shoes are intended.
In addition, it incorporates the BALANCE SYSTEM, developed by the brand itself and consisting of a rigid plate between the midsole and the sole of the front part, which prevents torsion and stabilizes the tread on uneven terrain.
The sole of the Joma Sima 2023 is made of DURABILITY rubber with different tread patterns to ensure stability and grip on rough terrain.
Technical specifications of the Joma Sima 2023
In this section we have to highlight the drop of the shoe, a drop that stands at 8 mm, a very common drop in trail running shoes but perhaps a little high as it is a lightweight shoe and intended for the fastest.
In terms of distances, we find ourselves with a shoe with which we can run at fast paces up to middle distance without any problem, the half marathon would be its ideal distance, of course, provided that it is on terrain or forest trails without great technical difficulties.
In summary, we have in the Joma Sima 2023 a shoe designed for the fastest runners, that has some outstanding technologies of the Spanish company and, as in the vast majority of Joma models, with an extraordinary value for money.

Joma Sima 2023, a very convincing trail running shoes
Everyone has their favorite brands. And that sometimes makes you leave out options that are very, very interesting. This is what happened to me until recently with Joma. A brand that is undoubtedly established in the Spanish sports scene and increasingly in the international one.
Since I like running in the mountains and I'm training more and more, my colleague Gorka entrusted me with the test of the Joma Sima 2023 trail running shoes. With this model, the brand aims to offer runners a robust, lightweight and versatile solution.
What surprises most every time with Joma, are the attractive and highly competitive prices . So it begs the question⊠Does it really deliver what it promises?
What kind of runners are the Joma Sima for?
The Joma Sima 2023 are not just any shoes. They have been meticulously designed for runners of average weight who are characterized by having a neutral stride.
If you're thinking of tackling mid-distance mountain running challenges, with terrain that doesn't present extremely high difficulty, this pair could be your ideal companion. I've used them for Speed Trails along the Cantabrian coast and they've been great.
In addition, their multipurpose design makes them an excellent choice for both intense competition days and regular training.
I have used them for various types of sessions and, without a doubt, when they have shone the most they have been in quality or intense training sessions on trails or forest tracks.
Because of their good foot support, I would not exclude them for days of intensive trekking and hiking. Not so much for walks but for those routes where you want to go fast.
What did we like most about the Joma Sima 2023?
There is a lot to admire about this model, but I highlight the following points:
- Breathability and comfort: on long runs, comfort is key. With the Jacquard cut, constant air circulation is guaranteed, avoiding overheating and moisture accumulation thanks to the VTS system.
- Protection and stability: mountain races are full of surprises. Especially when you're trying to go fast, which is what these Joma trail running shoes were designed for. The Joma Sportech system inserts ensure that the foot is protected against rocks and other obstacles, without compromising the shoe's lightness.
- Comfort innovations: I really liked the elastic tongue and liners that provide a customized fit. I had never used a solution like the Lace Pocket, but I did appreciate that the laces didn't dance on fast uphill and downhill sections.
- High-performance midsole: despite being a flying mountainshoes, they don't compromise on cushioning. With the Phylon Foam Reactive, the 23 Sima also offer optimal response with every step.
Possible points for improvement Joma Sima 2023
Although I am very comfortable running in these Joma, there are two areas where they could be improved:
- Grip: On wet or extremely rocky terrain, better grip could make the difference between a good time and a stumble. To be honest, the truth is that few shoes can easily cope with muddy sections. But I would have appreciated a bit more traction on steep descents.
- Cut of the shoe: The Sima 2023 are very comfortable for its cushioning and finishes. But it has something that may not fit everyone: a rather narrow last. I usually wear a 42 but since I have a wide foot, I had to get these Joma in a 43 to feel comfortable. Now, the problem is that the increased comfort compromises the heel grip.
Rival models of the Joma Trail TKSima 2023
It is difficult to find opponents at the height of the TK.Sima 23 in the same price range. In order to get into the same price-performance category, you would have to get older models whose prices have been reduced to liquidate stock. For this, there is no better tool than the RUNNEA comparator.
