The Hoka One One may not be as mediatic as other brands in the running sector, but the French brand has been able to carve out a niche for itself among the largest manufacturers of Running shoes and trail running Running shoes. The data are what they are, and they corroborate it. Not surprisingly, Hoka One One was the third most used brand at the Ironman World Championship in Kona, and also a total of eleven of the 28 top finishers of the last edition of the Ultra Trail Mont Blanc (UTMB) competed with a Hoka One One model on their feet.

The literal translation of the Maori term Hoka means "to fly over the earth", so it is not surprising that a large number of runners opt for Hoka One One for their training as well as for their competitions on asphalt and/or in the mountains. Thus, the identifying features of Hoka One One are: high performance cushioning, great lightness and generous sole to ensure stability and traction on the ground.

Hoka One One Tracer

Hoka One One Tracer, lightweight for short to medium distances

The French brand, founded by Nicolas Mermoud and Jean-Luc Diar in 2009, has clearly changed the trend in one of its latest models, the Hoka One One Tracer.

It is a shoe designed for training, but also for races, short and medium distance, and that stands out, first of all, for its great lightness. In fact, the men's model weighs less than 200 grams - 195 grams to be exact - and the women's version weighs only 160 grams. And only 4 millimeters of drop.

Another feature of the new Tracer model from Hoka One One is that it allows very fast transitions, thanks to its PRO2LITE Dual Density midsole. A system that presents two densities with the idea of improving cushioning in the heel area and increasing agility in the forefoot area.

On the other hand, and in response to the great feedback from runners, Hoka One One's design team introduced the new RMAT material, which is also present in the Tracer.

As in other reference models such as Huaka and Conquest, the benefits of RMAT material translate into great energy return and additional cushioning and traction.

Hoka One One Tracer

Ultra-lightweight and highly breathable upper

It is also important to note that the Tracer also comes with an ultra-lightweight and highly breathable upper, designed to minimize water or sweat absorption, thus maintaining the model's lightness. Its seamless construction reduces friction zones, preventing blisters.

Also present in most of the Hoka One One models -BondiBondi 4 or Vanquish 2, among others-, the generous sole of the Tracer includes the Hi Abrsaion Lightweight rubber, which arranged in strategic areas is able to provide greater durability to the shoe.

In short, the Hoka One One is that kind of lightweight, yet responsive shoe for runners of medium-light weight, suitable for running at fast paces in training and competitions.
