HOKA Clifton 5

Launched in June 2018, the Hoka One One Clifton 5, an iconic model of the Japanese house that already reaches the fifth edition in which it has incorporated few new features. This running shoe maintains the same line with a small novelty in the upper that provides a better fit. As usual, there is no change in the basic element found throughout the Clifton saga. The bet for a high level of cushioning in a lightweight design, which is a sure hit. Focusing on this model, we can say that it is a very versatile sports shoe, suitable for all types of runners, distances and paces, however if we have to choose a profile, we would bet on runners of medium weight designed, medium pace and medium-long distance.

The American manufacturer has decided to maintain an identical design in the midsole as far as the Clifton 4 is concerned, so the feel of the foot will also be the same. Among the systems incorporated in this model, we find EVA throughout this area in order to offer a soft yet elastic feel. One of the main characteristics of this saga is also maintained; an optimal level of cushioning, ready for any distance. And the Meta-Rocker plate offers greater protection to the foot and a smoother transition in each stride.

The only update that Hoka One One has decided to bet on in this new model is found in the upper, with the incorporation of a new engineered mesh that is designed to increase comfort. This increases the softness, while using fewer layers so the fit is more uniform and precise.

The outsole of the Hoka One One Clifton 5, like the midsole, remains virtually unchanged from its predecessor. A large amount of EVA has been added to help keep the shoe's weight down, and sticky rubber has been strategically placed in the forefoot and heel area for extended durability, so we have a very complete shoe that we can wear for many workouts.

Finally, in terms of technical specifications, the drop of this model stands at 5mm despite the high level of cushioning. About the weight, we already warned of the lightness of this iconic model of the house, and the truth is that it remains below the barrier of 300, more specifically, in the men's version is 265 gr and 215 for women.
