Year 2018

The Brooks PureGrit 7 is the seventh edition of this line of trail running shoes. On this occasion, they have undergone significant modifications ahead of their launch on the market in summer 2018. The changes, which we will explain below, have been made in order to increase the comfort and softness of the product. The American company has designed these shoes with the lightweight mountain runner in mind who is looking for a shoe for short distances.

In general, we can say that the Brooks Puregrit 7, as far as design is concerned, is far from the first edition which was more focused on the trail running athlete. However, the current one is a much more moderate version that seeksversatility and to reach more users.

Brooks PureGrit 7 for lightweight mountain runners

As we advanced, it is a model with big changes, however something that they have decided to keep the same as in the last editions is the midsole. Composed of Biomogo foam and Brooks DNA compound, they have a cushioning system that mitigates each step and exerts a return of energy in the same proportion to the pressure that the tread was made. This allows for a lighter stride throughout the race.

In addition, it is a material that works differently depending on the needs of each run, and adapts to the weight, speed and technique of the runner. The company has opted to increase this part of the midsole so that the foot loses sensitivity.

In the upper, which was already renewed in the Brooks Puregrit 6 and in previous editions, they have added some new details, such as the orientation of the laces towards the toe, a flexible wrap or 3D prints on the areas with greater wear. In addition, we find changes in the tongue to drain faster and reduce dirt. In the external aesthetics, it is obvious that it has visibly changed, we also see that it is a taller model than its predecessor.

The outsole of the Brooks PureGrit 7 has increased traction by including adhesive rubber. And not only that, it has changed the pattern to get a superior grip. If in the previous version we talked about its hexagonal patterned outsole, this time, they have decided to combine that pattern with chevrons in order to get a superior grip. And they have decided to reduce the number of studs and increase the spacing between them to prevent stones or other objects from getting stuck in the sole. Also, the heel has been rounded to help improve alignment and consequently reduce stress on the joints.

In terms of technical specifications, this model has a weight of 270 gr and despite increasing the midsole, they have maintained the 4mmdrop.
