Year 2017

The Brooks Dyad 9 is a neutral runner's shoe with excellent arch support, thanks to its roomy interior it is recommended for those who need to use special insoles or for those who have wider feet. Versatility is one of the main attributes of this shoe and makes it suitable both for daily training and to offer comfort to those who have to spend all day standing.

Its characteristics also make it a good option for those with flat feet or medium arch, but who need a shoe that offers comfort and cushioning.

Features of the upper of the Brooks Dyad 9

Providing greater flexibility and reducing the weight of the shoe has been one of the focuses in this ninth edition; the upper now has a more streamlined and lightweight appearance. The abundant synthetic overlays found in the previous version have been removed and only those necessary to maintain the structure of the upper are retained, which have now been heat-sealed to avoid the use of stitching.

The mesh now features more open holes that promote ventilation, in addition to this, the mesh itself has moisture wicking functions to increase the comfortable feel of the shoe.

Brooks uses a heavily padded tongue and collar to achieve that comfortable feel inside. We also find a removable insole which aids in the support and cushioning of the foot. Finally, a very soft fabric covers the entire interior of the Brooks Dyad 9 for maximum comfort.

Brooks Dyad 9 midsole

Across the entire length of the shoe's midsole is the BioMoGo DNA technology a rubber compound designed by Brooks, which not only fulfills its cushioning function very efficiently, but is also environmentally friendly.

This midsole offers sufficient durability, cushioning and responsiveness during running. By using a single layer of the same material throughout the entire midsole, a better transition from heel to toe is achieved for a smoother stride. In the heel, small segmented pads attenuate the impact with the surface and help us in transitions.

Outsole of the Brooks Dyad 9

The almost flat outsole of this shoe is covered with blown rubber, which significantly improves traction. Brooks also uses a carbon-based rubber, a material that is harder and has been placed in the heel area to offer increased durability and resistance to wear and tear.

The forefoot section is highlighted by noticeable grooves that have been added to provide flexibility. There are also two large rubber pads underneath the arch, the one in the medial area is large enough to also serve as arch support, so even though they are a neutral shoe, they also suit those who need more support in this area.

Fit of the Brooks Dyad 9

Regarding fit, the features of the Brooks Dyad 9 remain similar to the previous edition. They have a pretty decent amount of room inside that fits well for those with wide feet or those who need to fit orthotic insoles. The heel and midfoot area offer a fairly secure fit, while the forefoot allows for adequate toe mobility.

The Dyad 9 is an ideal choice for those looking for comfort and cushioning in a shoe with enough room for the feet to move freely, yet remain protected.
