Year 2018

Along with the legendary Brooks Cascadia family, for the moment, and despite its short history, the Caldera model of Brooks Running are the big bets of the American firm to try to cover all the needs of the trail running enthusiast.

The second version of the Brooks Caldera 2 brings few new features compared to the original version. The changes -which there are some- focus on maximizing both the comfort and the fit of the upper of the shoe.

Continuous midsole and outsole line

In general terms, the designers of the Seattle brand have opted to maintain the strong points of the first version of the Brooks Caldera. That is, neither midsole nor outsole suffer alterations with the one already seen in the previous model. Thus, the Brooks Caldera 2 also draws attention for its prominent and thick midsole, which incorporates the characteristic BioMoGo technology of the American company. This is an intelligent foam capable of adapting to the movement of the foot, as well as to the pressure exerted at each moment of the race.

Thanks to the inclusion of this exclusive compound (BioMoGo), the Brooks Caldera 2 offers a better response to the mountain runner, while increasing protection against the external elements that must be faced in full transit through the mountains.

The outsole of the Brooks Caldera 2 has the same configuration as the original version. It is a rubber compound with a "sticky" texture and multidirectional lugs. Thus, the Caldera 2 continues to guarantee that particular traction to face ascents and descents, and allowing great performance on all types of terrain.

New features of the Brooks Caldera 2

As we have already pointed out, the Brooks Caldera 2 presents few changes compared to its predecessor, and these are contained in the upper of this trail running shoe.

The upper has undergone a total redesign, and Brooks Running has resorted to an Ariaprene mesh fabric, with characteristics similar to neoprene; in addition to incorporating a Cordura AFT (Air Flow Technology) upper fabric. Both materials contribute to increase the ventilation, drainage and protection of the shoe, while also increasing its durability, thanks to the 3D printing of the external rubber.

All this combination of materials results in the upper of the Brooks Caldera 2 offering a tighter fit, as well as increased comfort. As a detail it also includes the Gaiter tongue integrated in the heel, which allows you to keep the laces tied.

Suitable for long distances

The minimal update of the second version of the Brooks Caldera means that the technical specifications of the shoe also remain unchanged. Drop of 4 millimeters (28 mm in the heel and 24 mm in the forefoot), and weights of 280 grams for the men's model (size 9 USA) and 240 grams for the women's version (size 8 USA).

With all this, the Brooks Caldera 2 does not lose sight of the long distance, even the ultras, maximizing its performance in cushioning and comfort to run miles and more miles of adventure in the mountains.
