The upper of the Altra Rivera 4 is made from a refined mesh that ensures a better fit around the foot. 

It also boasts a wide forefoot area, which, coupled with the snug midfoot design, prevents excessive toe compression while maintaining the security and confidence needed with each stride. Additionally, the heel area has enhanced padding and a redesigned look for increased comfort during workouts. 

The midsole continues to feature Altra EGO foam, consistent with the previous model, and the outsole remains unchanged in design and materials, but with reinforcements in high-contact areas.
