1 / 2

In 1972 the Nike Cortez was born as Bill Bowerman's first masterpiece; from the beginning the design of these shoes was focused on offering a running shoe that was lighter and more waterproof than any other shoe up to that moment.

Thanks to its qualities this Nike edition set a precedent in cushioning in the running world, which led them to quickly become the most popular running shoes in the United States. However, their unique design took them out of the running world and onto the streets of Los Angeles, becoming an unmistakable style icon. Since then, the sneakers have not only become a classic for runners but a casual representation of fashion that accompanies many in their day-to-day lives.

Classic Cortez Leather

Features

The Nike Classic Cortez Leather edition is a representation of this classic Nike sneaker, perfectly crafted with a high-quality leather upper. The original bullet-like styling is retained in this edition, to give the sneakers a unique touch.

The upper features layers of the same leather on the toe and heel of the shoe, which offer increased durability and better support and protection to these areas of the foot. The collar and tongue are made with a padded material that offers comfort and hugs the foot to enclose it inside the shoe without restricting movement.

Designed for running, these shoes have an EVA midsole that provides good cushioning during ground contact while efficiently dispersing shock energy and distributing it across the surface of the shoe for proper foot transition.

The outsole is crafted from a full-length rubber layer and features a herringbone pattern which offers good traction on asphalt terrain and also allows the Nike Classic Cortez Leather shoes to be adaptable to court sports practices.

The first Cortez were released more than 40 years ago with a nylon and suede construction, which can also be found in Nikes new catalog, although this leather version gives the shoes a more modern, "street" style that can be worn beyond running.
