The Nike Internationalist sneakers are a true cult of the 80's era. Their first appearance was in 1982 when they were used by the marathon runner Alberto Salazar, during the New York Marathon of that year. On that same weekend Nike launched its first TV commercial and the results were amazing, these shoes designed for long distance running quickly gained fame.

But not only did we see them in marathons and commercials, they were also the shoes worn by Brian in the iconic movie "The Breakfast Club", which led this edition to become a true symbol of the era.

Features

The sneakers feature an upper that makes a combination of three materials to offer different features to each section of the foot. At the front is a mesh overlay with medium holes, which allow good ventilation to the shoe, the contour of the shoe and the lace holes are reinforced with a layer of suede to prevent wear.

Nylon is used in the midfoot section, which offers flexibility and durability. Finally, the heel section also has a suede reinforcement that keeps the foot securely in place and offers a better structure to the entire shoe.

The collar and tongue are made of padded materials; the tongue is quite prominent and features horizontal cutouts that improve the fit.

Designed for long runs, the Nike Internationalist sneakers feature an EVA rubber midsole, which allows for good cushioning during ground contact, but also keeps the shoe lightweight so that it can be worn all day long if we want to implement it as part of a casual weekend or lounge around the house outfit.

The waffle pattern rubber outsoles offer traction and durability in various terrain conditions. The square cleat is not very prominent, so it adapts well to asphalt surfaces, but also works efficiently on packed dirt surfaces.

These iconic 80's sneakers are back to win back the hearts of their fans with a variety of styles and upper designs while retaining the features that made them famous more than 30 years ago.
