Nike Air Max 90 Ultra Flyknit

Nike is commemorating the 30th anniversary of the Air Max 1, the shoe that took Air innovation to new heights. To celebrate, Nike Sportswear has released a compilation of retro products, remixes and innovations showing that Air' s potential has never been stronger.

Among this compilation are the Air Max 90 Flyknit. The Air Max 90 Flyknit features two innovations that make it lighter: a Flyknit upper that also increases flexibility, and a grooved midsole that decreases weight and increases comfort.

Snug fit

Nike Flyknit technology was inspired by feedback from runners who have long sought a shoe with the snug fit and no-sock feel of a sock. Nike embarked on a four-year project with teams of programmers, engineers and designers to create a technology that would help craft a woven upper with static properties to provide structure and durability. Later, the precise placement of support, breathability elements and flexibility were fine-tuned, all in a single layer. The result is an extremely lightweight, snug and nearly seamless upper.

Air has been an integral part of Nike since it was first introduced in the Air Tailwind model in 1979. For the first nine years it was hidden; you couldn't see it, you could only feel it. Then, in 1987, it became visible with Air Max: the revolution had begun.
