It's fair to say that the Salomon Speedcross collection is one of the best-selling trail running shoes on the market, and it is now in its fifth version. The logical evolution of these high quality models is that each new release has improvements that exceed its previous versions, as is the case with the Salomon Speedcross 5.

Salomon Speedcross 5, features

The revamp of the Annecy brand's iconic trail running shoe has focused all its innovations on two fundamental aspects: comfort and stability, both characteristics that have been elevated to the highest standards.

Although the Salomon Speedcross 5 have beendesigned to perform well on loose mountain terrain, on mud, and even snow, the twist is that this model has also been adapted to give it a more urban functionality, bringing back theSalomon CityTrail concept. In this regard, the Speedcross are available in a variety of colours so that runners have the opportunity to combine performance and design.

Salomon Speedcross 5, features and news

Although it is still too early to give all the details because the launch is expected to be in February 2019, Runnea can give you a sneak preview to whet your appetite for the arrival of this model.

It should be noted that one of the main changes of these Salomon Speedcross 5 is located in the upper. The purpose is to achieve more flexibility and comfort, so it was decided to remove the most rigid materials, as well as seams, and replace them with softer materials, and that are joined to the upper itself. Salomon's exclusive SensiFit system remains the centrepiece of this part of the shoe with the aim of maximising the model's comfort. It also features wider lugs.

Salomon Speedcross 5, upper

The Salomon Speedcross 5's midsole barely has any presence in the front of the shoe, but, despite this, it achieves a drop of 10 mm - 30mm in the heel and 20mm in the forefoot. The outstanding Energy Cell+ and EVA compound technologies provide extra comfort and cushioning capacity as the kilometres go by.

The Speedcross 5's outsole has also undergone significant changes, although the Contagrip compound remains. However, the new tread pattern is much more prominent, and there is also much more space in its distribution, which aids running on more uneven and complicated terrain. The heel area seems wider, with the aim of providing more stability to this trail running shoe.
