Year 2017

Brooks has completely redesigned this edition of its shoes, after the first version did not leave many users completely satisfied. The Brooks Neuro 2, then, becomes a redefinition of the firm for this line of shoes, in which the changes are remarkable, mainly when it comes to comfort and support.

One of the aspects that has been improved in this second edition is the fit. These shoes are wider and with a slightly higher structure than the previous edition, which translates into more room in the toe area; this increased space makes the shoe less restrictive and allows the toes to spread slightly apart, offering greater comfort.

With a 6mmdrop the Neuro 2 sits in the middle ground between those looking for a minimalist shoe and those who prefer a higher level of cushioning. Its weight of 286 grams in the men's version responds adequately whether you are looking for speed or high mileage.

Brooks Neuro 2 outsole

Among the notable changes that have been made to these shoes is the sole design. In the previous version the outsoles featured very large pads that offered an unattractive appearance and did not add functionality.

For this edition the pads have been reduced in size, which improves propulsion and aesthetics, but above all allows for a smoother and more energetic take-off.

Deep grooves extending through the outsole help improve flexibility and allow the Brooks Neuro 2 shoe to bend properly, which can be felt even before the shoe is worn.

This groove system makes it easier for the heel and forefoot to move independently for a more natural toe-off.

Brooks Neuro 2 cushioning

For cushioning in the midsole, BioMoGo DNA technology continues to be used, which consists of a foam that uniquely adapts to the curvatures of the runner's foot, providing cushioning in a different way for each runner. This foam also offers a high level of memory, adjusting and returning to its original shape according to the pressure exerted on it, providing maximum durability.

This edition also features a more rounded heel that provides better foot alignment, which decreases the stress placed on the joints during running.

New shoe design

The new lighter mesh is perhaps one of the most welcome changes in the Brooks Neuro 2; this new material provides a softer fit, allowing the feet a greater opportunity to "breathe" while keeping the inside of the shoe cool, unlike the synthetic material of the previous version that locked in heat.

The upper utilizes Dynamic Hammock System technology that works to give the foot more room to breathe while fitting softly. The inside of the shoe has been made softer and more comfortable, the feeling can be felt from the moment the foot gets inside the shoe.

For the fit in the lacing system, thinner round laces are used, which may give a slightly looser feel than traditional laces, but they secure the shoes very well.

By way of conclusion we can say that the changes made by Brooks to these shoes are a significant improvement to the previous edition. The shoes are well suited for training and even for running marathons and half marathons, or as recovery shoes. Although their appearance is still somewhat rugged, their performance and comfort are outstanding.
