Year 2015

This second and new model of the Launch range is currently marketed thanks to the campaign carried out by a good number of runners who had been owners of the previous Brooks Launch 1 model and its excellent performance, since the intention of the North American firm era to make it disappear from the catalog as it was not a best-selling shoe.

The new Brooks Launch 2 is a mixed running shoe weighing 304 grams (slightly heavier than its predecessor at 289 grams) and with a 10 mm drop, aimed at neutral or supinator runners weighing up to 75 kilograms for training at intermediate paces, although it is also perfectly suitable for long-distance races at a pace of approximately 4 min/km.

Upper

If there was one thing that made the first version stand out era its classy aesthetics, probably the main handicap of this shoe and its poor conversion into sales. Brooks has not limited itself to a simple facelift of the Launch model and has managed to design a much more modern and attractive upper with a combination of colors that stand out.

But that's not all, as the American firm has incorporated to the Brooks Launch 2 various materials and technologies such as a double-layer mesh to make it more resistant, improve breathability and provide greater comfort to the runner. On the other hand, the seams have been eliminated in favor of thermosealing and a reinforced toe cap has also been added. Also noteworthy is the improved collar that surrounds the ankle offering a degree of comfort typical of the Glycerin.

Midsole

The Launch 2 features a large groove in the midsole, but this time and unlike the original model, with softer and more flexible compound called Biomogo DNA to provide a good dose of cushioning but partly penalizing the weight of the shoe. Even so, the performance of the shoe is exceptional, it has good stability and feels lighter than its 309 grams.

Outsole

The outsole is practically the same as in the original Launch model but introduces some improvements that are to be welcomed and optimize the shoe's performance. Its design is perfect for runners who land with the heel, which gives it extra stability.

As for the material used in this part of the shoe, Brooks has continued to opt for the HPR Plus compound, a high resistance rubber to cope with the abrasion of the asphalt.
