The New Balance 580 New Balance sneaker is an adaptation of the New Balance 585, which soon became one of the most popular shoes among the public, making the New Balance 580 a legend within the New Balance legacy.
New Balance 580, a modernised redesign of a legendary model
The New Balance 580 arrives with a modernised look and design compared to its first version launched in the late 1990s. The New Balance 580 was initially intended to be used as one of the New Balance trail running shoes for running on mountain terrain without technical difficulties, but over time it has gradually shifted to a more "casual" use in our daily life.
The new version of the New Balance 580 comes with a slimmer toe cap and lower collar height combined with a construction that is as close as possible to its first version.
"When we decided to rescue a shoe as iconic as the 580 from the archive, our condition was that it should remain faithful to the original model, but not only that. We looked at every possibility to improve upon the design of its predecessor." Sean Scudder, head of footwear design at Lifestyle Energy.
The midsole of the New Balance 580 features the brand's proprietary ABZORB isoprene foam technology that helps absorb shock through a combination of cushioning and compression resistance.
The New Balance 580 incorporates C-CAP cushioning developed by New Balance, which provides extra cushioning in the shoe that is appreciated when wearing it from dusk 'til dawn.
The New Balance 580 retains the design inspired by the New Balance trail running shoes of decades ago, but it's modernised to fit our times and incorporates Rollbar technology to provide the necessary stability in everyday use.
