Year 2016

Designed to provide comfort and speed in long distance races, the Under Armour Speedform Gemini 2.1 is an edition in which the firm has sought the use of high quality materials, along with the incorporation of its most innovative technologies to achieve an adaptive shoe, with good support for the foot and with the comfort that feet need.

Upper features

The upper design of these shoes is quite simple, without the use of unnecessary overlays that only end up adding weight to the shoe but do not fulfill real functionalities. In the case of these shoes, their construction is entirely mesh in a single layer with no seams.

The mesh with fairly open holes allows adequate airflow into the shoe, making the foot feel comfortable and cool at all times. Underneath the mesh layer is a layer of very soft fabric which allows the foot to feel comfortable, but also prevents loose material or dirt from getting inside.

A reinforcement located in the toe area adds durability to this area of the shoe that is more prone to wear and tear. The flat laces are attached directly to the upper so that the runner can adjust the shoe according to his needs. A TPU reinforcement is placed in the heel area, which locks the heel in place and promotes greater foot stability.

Inside the shoe is an insole that adds cushioning and comfort, while keeping moisture under control for a more comfortable foot feel.

Cushioning

The midsole of these shoes is made with a double layer of rubber material which allows for a good level of cushioning. This midsole efficiently absorbs energy during ground contact and allows it to be distributed throughout the shoe, during toe-off this is converted into positive energy, which helps to improve the fluidity of the stride and give a smoother transition from heel to toe.

The 8-millimeter drop allows for a fairly dense foot surface that provides protection from contact, but also provides some ground feel. ArchForm technology offers additional support for the arch area, while complementing the midsole support system for a much more comfortable running experience.

Outsole

The rubber used for the outsoles of the Under Armour Speedform Gemini 2.1 is quite lightweight, yet durable to withstand the wear and abrasion that occurs after some time of use.

Some cushioning pads are placed throughout the entire outsole, which also facilitate rebound, while the rubber characteristics are conducive to good traction on asphalt terrains. Flex grooves are placed in the outsole, thus maintaining flexibility for a more natural foot movement.

Thanks to their light weight and the use of quality materials in the cushioning systems, these shoes are a perfect choice for long-distance races where timing is important. The support they offer to the foot is ideal for runners with a tendency to pronation, who will enjoy a comfortable and efficient shoe.
