Year 2022

Introducing the Saucony Triumph 20; the latest update of one of the brand's most distinctive shoes. Designed to rack up miles and miles on the road, they remain faithful to the collection's philosophy of offering maximum cushioning capacity along with a permanent reactivity.

This running shoe was created by and for runners looking for a model to complete long distances in their daily training sessions on the road. A highly anticipated model for runners who want to wear a daily training shoe without giving up a wide variety of paces.

Main features of the Saucony Triumph 20

Next, we're going to analyse the main new features of new model:

The midsole continues to feature Saucony's PWRRUN+ foam; a lightweight and soft compound that increases responsiveness and running performance.

However, we will be able to see a higher profile model, with a higher drop than we found in its predecessor, the Saucony Triumph 19.

The upper of this 20th edition shows no major changes. The enginereed mesh fabric will continue to be present in this model along with new elements to improve performance, quality and fit for neutral-gait athletes; once again betting on the inclusion of recycled materials.

Finally, we are convinced that the compound included in the outsole will guarantee maximum durability and traction to face half marathons and marathon runs on tarmacsurfaces.

Review of Saucony Triumph 20

Saucony Triumph 20, a runner with the perfect dose of protection and responsive cushioning

What shoe do you wear when you want to go out for a run without any pretensions of pace? And if you also want to enjoy maximum cushioning and protection with a good dose of reactivity? Well, I can think of very few models that meet all these requirements, but these Saucony Triumph 20 would be, without a doubt, one of my great favorites for daily runs.

I had the opportunity to test the previous version of these running shoes and my feelings were very very positive; this latest update has only corroborated it. It is a model with an exquisite balance between cushioning, protection and lightness that responds with quality in a wide range of paces.

A true road runner with which to face large volumes of kilometers with the perfect dose of protection and reactive cushioning.

A model that maintains its captivating maximalist tendency but undergoes a rise in profiles and a redesign of its geometry for a more racer aesthetic. Personally, I applaud this change of "chip" from the American company Saucony, which has made this top of the range shoe faster and faster.

Runner's profile of these Saucony Triumph 20

Saucony's most emblematic top-of-the-line running shoe , the Saucony Triumph 20 has become one of the most acclaimed models by a large group of neutral runners with medium/medium-high weight (those above 75-80kg in the case of men and above 65-70kg in the case of women) who are looking to face a high volume of mileage on asphalt.

While it is true that it can be a valid option for tackling all types of distances on asphalt, the true potential of this shoe will be seen from the half marathon and marathon onwards.

The fact of implementing a greater presence of PWRRUN+ foam ensures smoother transitions and greater responsiveness over a wide range of paces. Clearly, it would be a shoe I would wear for running above 4:5:00 min/km.

I would point out that the type of runner who can get the most out of this shoe would be a heel-to-toe runner looking to rack up high volumes of mileage at intermediate and low paces.

Honestly, the sensations I have had with them have been magnificent as far as the lightness-protection ratio is concerned. A priori, it may seem somewhat incongruous but these Triumph 20 show you that protection and lightness can go hand in hand.

What did I like most about the Saucony Triumph 20?

There are two aspects that I would highlight very positively. On the one hand, the redesign of its geometry and, especially, the increase in model profiles. A very important change compared to its predecessor because the Triumph 20 is even more cushioned and reinforces that strategic area such as the heel. Remember that this is a shoe designed for runners of medium-high weight who tend to enter the heel, so these Triumph 20 will offer greater protection.

Your ultimate rolling shoe for long distances; a sure valor in protection.

The lacing area and more specifically the straps located in the same is another of the points in favor of this shoe. These Saucony Triumph 20 offer, compared to the Saucony Triumph 19, a more personalized fit thanks to those new bands that emphasize that feeling of support.

Opportunities for improvement

There is one thing about these Saucony Triumph 20 that didn't quite click for me; their tongue. Personally, I think it's overly padded and too long and I find it a bit uncomfortable. For those who prioritize very soft tongues and that cover the tibial area well, this model would fit them perfectly but, frankly, it is not my case.

Elements like this add unnecessary weight to a shoe that, despite being top of the range in cushioning, stands out for its lightness.

What are the direct rivals of these Saucony Triumph 20?

These Saucony Triumph 20 belong to the crowded segment of top-of-the-range running shoes in cushioning, with the differential valor of offering an exquisite balance between reactivity and lightness. Taking this into consideration, we could face them with such outstanding models in the market as the:
