That popular saying "If it goes well, don't even touch it" is the premise that New Balance has set in its iconic New Balance Fresh Foam 1080 v7, which, as it could not be otherwise, inherits all the great features of its predecessor the Fresh Foam 1080 v6. Thus, that hallmark of being a training shoe with maximum cushioning is still present with that exclusive midsole with Fresh Foam foam, and with which the runner is able to enjoy a smoother and more dynamic transition. Although the American firm has opted to include small nuances such as the slight variation of the geometry of the shoe to improve the feeling of maximum cushioning.
Another aspect that remains unchanged in the New Balance Fresh Foam 1080 v7 is its forefoot, which continues to present an open and wide profile, which gives greater freedom of movement to the toes.
The most important and noticeable changes in the Fresh Foam 1080 v7 are found in the upper. There, the Boston-based company includes a new skeletal structure in the midfoot and upper area. The new Engineered Mesh wraps the foot, providing more comfort and a more adaptive fit, especially in the midfoot area.
Flexibility and stability are another facet that New Balance has worked on in the seventh edition of the Fresh Foam 1080 v7 with blown rubber outsole and the two transverse flex lines, although, this time, the midfoot area is wider, and includes more grooves, and somewhat deeper than in the previous model. In addition, the hexagonal shapes of the sidewalls are more convex, dense and shallower, with the idea of improving stability, but also favoring a smoother transition.
All in all, what New Balance is looking for with the seventh installment of its iconic Fresh Foam 1080 is to offer an improved experience to the runner, with maximum cushioning and a smooth transition. The technical characteristics of the shoes are also unchanged, so the Fresh Foam 1080 v7 retain their 8-millimeter drop, and hardly vary in weight, staying around 295 grams.
