The Hoka Solimar are walking shoes for those starting out in running or fitness, especially if you're looking for a model for outings of no more than 10km (without being used for running). They're great for those with a neutral gait, and offer good cushioning and comfort in each step. They are also an excellent option for walking. Their drop is 6mm (26 mm in the heel area, and 20mm in the forefoot area), which means you might need some adaptation if you are an excessive heeler.

The weight comes in at just 240 grams and price is £105 in the UK.

Target audience: Hoka Solimar

The American brand Hoka seeks to approach runners who are just starting to run, or those who are looking for shoes that can be used for walking, going to the gym and a little light jogging. They are also the brand's cheapest running shoes, meaning they're not a huge investment if you're just starting out.

A perfect model for runs up to 10k, for joggers or those who prefer a gentle pace, on tarmac (or a treadmill). This is important because the sole is very exposed, and can suffer on surfaces like gravel.

Technical characteristics: Hoka Solimar

Its upper is made of recycled materials, and consists of an elastic mesh in the form of a grid that holds the foot very well without imprisoning it. The sensations are undoubtedly very comfortable when wearing these Hoka Solimar.

In the forefoot area, we find a design that creates an anatomical structure that protects the Achilles heel. The tongue is wide and padded.

The midsole is made of a slightly denser foam than in their more premium shoes. We will not find the same soft and reactive foam in the Hoka Bondi 8, but the feel is quite soft, which provides a pleasant sensation with each step.

The outsole is perhaps the most curious thing about this model. It is very exposed, although with areas more protected by a rubber of greater durability where there is greater impact. That's why we recommend this model for walking, occasional running and jogging, or going to the gym.
