Year 2016

One step below the mythical and successful Kayano or Nimbus, the GT 1000 family from ASICS Running presents its fifth version as the simplest training shoe in its extensive catalog, aimed at pronator runners. It stands out as a well-balanced model, providing a smooth ride. Not to mention that its great value for money has made it very popular with a large group of runners who need to correct their stride with every stride (from mild to moderate).

As with the previous version, the GT 1000 4, this fifth installment of the Japanese brand's model once again features optimal cushioning and great stability. What ASICS Running has tried to achieve in the GT 1000 5 is to reduce its weight, up to 10% less than the GT 1000 4, according to the brand. An aspect that results in a more agile shoe.

SpEVA midsole and GEL system

The cushioning system of the ASICS GT 1000 5 continues to be supported by a SpEVA midsole, and the two pieces of GEL in the back and front of the shoe. Something that has worked perfectly in the new ASICS Nimbus 18.

On the subject of stability, the Dynamic DuoMax technology and the Trusstic System in the midfoot work together in unison to offer better support to the runner.

Although the outsole of the ASICS GT 1000 5 has a slightly different pattern for more effective grip, the materials used remain the same as in its predecessor. For example, the robust AHAR+ compound, located in the rear area, provides great durability.

Upper with optimal breathability

In terms of upper, the ASICS GT 1000 5 is an evolution of the previous model with its two-layer construction, soft feel and optimal breathability. To this we must add the small variation of the heel counter, whose raison d'être is none other than to increase the support of the rear area of the shoe, and therefore, to achieve a more stable footprint.

The weight of the ASICS GT 1000 5 is around 300 grams in the men's version (size 42.5EU), and around 268 grams in the women's model (size 39EU). This simple model from ASICS Running is optimized for both regular training and racing distances up to half marathon.
