Year 2015

Natural running is going to become one of the focal points of Asics' 2015 season catalog. The Japanese brand is betting on giving a major boost to its Natural 33 range with a new trident on the scene, and presents its 33-FA, 33-M and 33-DFA models.

Asics defines the 33 DFA model as a shoe that allows you to "work the calf and foot muscles without sacrificing direct contact with the ground". The idea behind it is none other than to run differently, and in a more natural way.

The Asics 33 DFA is the most minimalist shoe in this new collection because it has a lower profile, a drop of 4 millimeters and a great lightness, since it has a weight of 244 grams (size 42.5EUR for men). That is why if you have in mind to acquire a transition model towards minimalist footwear, this can be a wise choice. Don't overlook the fact that the 33 DFA will require you to have a good running technique.

Asics 33 DFA Key Features

Analyzing this Asics shoe more in depth, there are two details that stand out in the technological section. The 33 DFA brings with it the FluidAxis system (DFA: Deep Fluid Axis), whose main mission is to provide greater flexibility that contributes to a more natural movement of the foot.

And on the other hand, in its midsole, the innovative FluidFoam foam is incorporated, whichguarantees good protection against impacts, a softer feel and greater rebound. All this to maintain direct contact with the surface.

Another key to this neutral shoe lies in its seamless upper, which not only increases comfort, but the incorporated overlays offer stability, and promote a more optimal fit, without limiting movement.

Runner Profiles

The unique features of the Asics 33 DFA allow them to fit the needs of different profiles of neutral runners

  • Low weight runners (up to 70 kg). Its great cushioning makes it an ideal model for competition, even in events such as the marathon. But also for quality training.
  • Runners with medium weight (between 70 and 80 kilos). Suitable for running speed series and competing in popular races that do not exceed 10 kilometers in length.
  • Minimalist runners looking for a transition model to shoes with a lower drop.

Technologies used

FluidAxis

Deep flex grooves aligned to the axes of the subtalar joint. With this innovative design it is able to recognize and adjust to the exact weight of the runner, and also to the change in foot position during the different phases of the stride.

California Slip Lasting

System that enhances stability and comfort. The upper of the model is stitched to an EVA surface, which is attached directly to the midsole.

Solyte® Midsole Material

Midsole made of a lighter compound than traditional EVA and SpEVA®. This gives the shoe greater cushioning and durability.

Solid Rubber outsole

Ensures optimal durability and traction.

AHAR+

Sole made of AHAR rubber compound (blown air). Gives the model optimal cushioning and durability, and facilitates the stride.

Removable Sockliner

This EVA insole molds to the shape of the foot and can be replaced by an orthopedic insole.
