Year 2017

Altra Running is quickly becoming a household name among libre sports enthusiasts. Its distinctive Zero-Drop platform and incredibly roomy toe area have earned it popularity in both the running and offroad communities.

Last year Altra debuted the Lone Peak 3.0 and the Lone Peak 3.0 NeoShell. These new designs improve upon their predecessors and retain everything that makes the Lone Peak series a favorite among a large following.

However, in addition to the 3.0 update, Altra also released something else, the Lone Peak 3.0 NeoShell Mid shoes. While the traditional Lone Peak designs are geared primarily towards trail runners, the Mid was designed for all hikers. These new Hiking shoes offer everything we love about the Lone Peak design with the added support of a boot.

With them, the Altra Lone Peak 3.0 NeoShell Mid is a trail running shoe designed for extreme weather conditions. It provides a perfect combination of traction, comfort, support and stability. This model will not disappoint the runner used to running uphill and downhill.

NeoShell system for water repellency

The upper of the Altra Lone Peak 3.0 NeoShell Mid uses an abrasion-resistant mesh designed to provide breathability and a comfortable foot environment. Polartec NeoShell lining is added to keep the foot dry, even in wet conditions.

Unlike other shoes with a waterproof design, the NeoShell system is wrapped around the outside of the shoe. In doing so, the lining attempts to stop water from the start, before it reaches the inner fabrics; this seems to be an excellent design choice. The shoe also comes with a Velcro gaiter attachment that keeps dirt out.

A repetitive problem faced by long distance runners is related to toenail injuries. This problem is the result of constant impact and rubbing in confined spaces, many have struggled to find a model that minimizes this inconvenience. No doubt these athletes will find the Altra Lone Peak 3.0 NeoShell Mid design the perfect fit and space.

The Altra Lone Peak 3.0 NeoShell Mid uses EVA foam in the midsole to provide durable underfoot cushioning. It comes with A-Bound Top Layer midsole compound designed to provide resiliency. Between the EVA foam and A-Bound compound is Stone Guard protection that disperses impact on landing while protecting the foot from bruising. The Lone Peak 3.0 NeoShell Mid also incorporates the Natural Ride system that promotes natural foot movement.

The Altra Lone Peak 3.0 NeoShell Mid utilizes AltraMax sticky rubber compound that is designed to offer reliable traction and durability on multiple terrains. Strategically placed TrailClaw lugs under the metatarsals provide additional traction when needed.

Features of the Altra Lone Peak 3.0 NeoShell Mid

As a trail running shoe, the Altra Lone Peak 3.0 NeoShell Mid is designed for daily training for neutral runners, and is suitable for running in wet terrain.

Altra MaxTrac Sticky Rubber with TrailClaw system is implemented in this new Altra model for mountain running, whose mission is to offer superior grip, while increasing durability on multiple terrains. In addition, this trial shoe also comes with a reinforced toe cap, which offers improved toe protection.

The Altra Lone Peak 3.0 NeoShell Mid has a weight of 240 grams, seasoned with the characteristic Zero Drop of the North American company.
