Every epic adventure starts somewhere, and this event in the Dolomites begins in the heart of the Paneveggio-Pale di San Martino Natural Park in Trentino. Organized by U.S. PRIMIERO ASD, the event not only poses a challenge to runners but also captivates nature enthusiasts with its stunning mountain landscapes. Participants have the choice of four different routes traversing the pristine Primiero and Vanoi valleys, with the following distances:

  • 42K
  • 26K
  • 16K (new this year!)
  • 6.5K (for families!)

Paneveggio Pale di San Martino Natural Park

Covering over 190 square kilometers, the Paneveggio Pale di San Martino Natural Park is a sanctuary of biodiversity and natural beauty. Its centuries-old forests and vibrant meadows are home to deer, symbol of the park, which can be observed in the wildlife area of the Centro Visitatori di Paneveggio.

The region is also famous for its red fir trees, ideal for making musical instruments. Visitors can explore the park and enjoy various activities. The visitor centres offer complete immersion in the culture and nature of the area.

Primiero Dolomiti Village

Besides the competitive element, the event features the Primiero Dolomiti Village, a hub for athletes that doubles as an exhibition space for local businesses. At the day's end, the Primiero Dolomiti Party provides a relaxing space for runners and their families to enjoy local delicacies in a festive atmosphere, complemented by spectacular views of the valley.

Participating in the Primiero Dolomiti Marathon 2024 is simple. You can register now at the official website.

According to the FIDAL regulations, the following athletes can compete:

  • Italian and foreign athletes affiliated in 2024 for societies affiliated to FIDAL.
  • Foreign athletes affiliated to a federation affiliated to WA (World Athletics).
  • Italian and foreign athletes in possession of a Runcard or Mountain and Trail Runcard.
  • Italian and foreign athletes affiliated to a sports promotion body, in possession of a Runcard-EPS.

The registration fee includes the following services:

Race bib, timing chip, medical assistance, refreshment points (course and finish), WC services (start and finish), transport of clothing from start to finish, bag deposit service, timing and classifications service, participation medal (for classified athletes), downloadable participation diploma, post-race pasta party, and a race pack containing a few surprise gifts and souvenirs.

Bib delivery

Bib numbers can be picked up exclusively at the Primiero Dolomiti Village located in the Intercommunal Sports Center of Primiero.

Opening hours are as follows:

  • Friday, July 5,2024, from 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm.
  • Saturday, July 6, 2024, from 7:00 a.m. to 30 minutes before departure.

Details of the course of the Primiero Dolomiti Marathon 2024

The route of the Primiero Dolomiti Marathon is as challenging as it is spectacular. The courses have been carefully designed to showcase the natural beauty of the area's mountains and valleys. From intense climbs to technical descents, participants will not only test their endurance, but also enjoy breathtaking panoramic views.

As we told you on RUNNEA, this new edition of the Primiero Dolomiti Marathon 2024 has the following distances:

  • 42K: Time: 8:30h. Start: Villa Welsperg in Val Canali. Finish: Fiera di Primiero. Positive elevation gain of 1.242m. and negative elevation gain of 1.543m.
  • 26K: Time: 11:00h. Start: San Martino di Castrozza. Finish: Fiera di Primiero. Positive difference in altitude of 389m. and negative of 703m.
  • 16K: New distance in the race. Time: 10:15h. Start: Zortea-Valle del Lozen. Finish: Feria de Primiero. Positive elevation gain of 448m. and negative of 1.198m.
  • 6,5K (family): Time: 09:30h. Start and finish: Primiero Fair.

Along the route, you will find hydration and medical assistance stations, ensuring that each kilometre of your run is safe and enjoyable.
