When you go out for a run, think about what you have with you: sports clothes, good Running shoes and, increasingly, your cell phone and headphones to listen to music. The success of applications that help the athlete when it comes to running and exercise is consolidated, and one of the best apps is undoubtedly Runtastic. The Austrian company has announced an agreement with Universal Music to bring together in the cell phone everything the runner needs when he goes running: one of the best services for recording and managing data during the race and the most motivating music for your outings.

Runtastic Music - Running Vol. 1

As a result of this agreement, Runtastic Music - Running Vol. 1 is the first collection released by the 2 companies. A playlist with some of Universal Music's best artists, such as Swedish House Mafia, Bastille and will.i.am, the songs have been carefully selected by music and fitness experts to offer users the ideal PPM for their workout. The compilation is available on iTunes, Google Play, Amazon, Musicload, Saturn, 7digital and other digital music stores.

Thanks to advanced music player options and the Powersong feature available in the newly released Runtastic 5.0 app, users can listen to Running Vol.1 while training to increase their motivation, focus, activity duration and calories burned.

"Music has been scientifically proven to impact time, intensity and overall exercise outcome," comments Florian Gschwandtner, CEO of Runtastic. "By partnering with the world leader in music, we can offer our users an extraordinary listening experience to help them reach beyond their limits and achieve optimal results."

For those who purchase Running Vol.1, a 5k Power Mix and 10k Power Mix will be included. Additional music mixes from Runtastic and Universal Music Group will be available soon for our users.

Runtastic has a series of mobile apps that sync directly with proprietary hardware to measure distance, speed, pace, time, heart rate, calories burned and route (via maps) when running, cycling or performing other sporting activity. Results can then be viewed directly in the apps, Runtastic GPS devices or on Runtastic.com. There users can view their training history, get detailed data analysis and compare themselves with other athletes.

Total redesign of its flagship app Runtastic

The Austrian company also unveiled a completely new redesign of its flagship app, Runtastic, earlier this year. The result is improved features and new functions. This launch comes at the same time as the company surpasses 70 million downloads worldwide.

Enriched Experience

Runtastic 5.0, as the adaptation is called, is now cleaner and its design is intended to provide users with a simpler but more complete user experience. Screens and navigation options can be easily customized to suit each user's preferences, and state-of-the-art technology allows for effortless data synchronization between the Runtastic app and the user's personal Runtastic.com account.

The app has also been enhanced to work consistently across multiple platforms, simultaneously utilizing and leveraging the unique functions and features of each system.

New Feature to Keep You Hydrated

Hydration is key to staying healthy and fit. That's why this new feature in the Runtastic app takes into consideration the user's activity details, personal stats, local weather conditions and more to provide a hydration suggestion after completing the activity. Previously, when a Runtastic user completed an activity, they could only enter activity details. This popular and useful feature is still present, but the hydration feature takes tracking to another level by instantly providing a recommendation for appropriate hydration based on each user's specific data.

"We need to continue to move beyond just tracking and aggregating data," comments Gschwandtner. "The hydration feature is a great example of how we can guide users and help them make a healthy, informed decision, at the right time, using their unique and personal data."

Enhanced and Free Features

Existing elements of the Runtastic app have been fully optimized and some features previously only available in the PRO version, such as the Music Player and LIVE Tracking & Motivations, are now free. These features, a favorite among Runtastics, motivate them to network, share their activity on their social networks and ultimately reach more ambitious health and fitness goals. Android users will also be excited to see Runtastic Training Plans available for the first time on their Android devices. Training plans can be purchased from the Runtastic app or on Runtastic.com.
