The Under Armour SpeedForm Velociti is an ideal neutral shoe that you can use for racing or as a mixed shoe for training series races. They offer us mainly lightness, a soft-fitting upper and a midsole with a high rebound capacity.

With this new edition Under Armour seeks to diversify its catalog of options in speed shoes, compared to other editions such as the Apollo that have gained so much popularity among runners. Like the Under Armour Apollo, the Velociti is designed for speed, but with a larger amount of rubber in the outsole and a denser midsole that gives it the versatility to be used as a training shoe as well.

Upper features

The upper features a seamless construction in which Under Armour has used its most advanced technologies to ensure maximum comfort. The mesh material of the upper offers very good ventilation and is directly linked to another material in the heel area which helps keep the foot securely in place and provides a better structure to the shoe.

The joining of these two materials reflects the firm's good work in the construction of the upper; for this they have used Bemis tape, a type of tape widely used in the apparel industry to join two materials without using seams. With this technique, the company has achieved a neat finish, which maintains the shoe's durability and ventilation.

The design of the heel area of the Under Armour SpeedForm Velociti is softly accommodating to give a glove-like feel, but without neglecting the support the foot needs during the run.

One detail regarding the fit of these shoes is that they are narrower in the forefoot area, so those with wide feet might feel some restriction in the toe area, something that could be solved by choosing half a size up from the normal size.

Cushioning

The midsole of these shoes uses the Charged system that the company has implemented in other footwear lines. It is a rubber that provides good rebound, although its feel is firmer than traditional EVA rubber. Despite its firmness the rubber compresses and responds correctly to provide that feeling of speed that the name of the shoe indicates.

In terms of cushioning you could miss some more softness in the midsole, especially after a few kilometers run, although for short runs the midsole offers perfect performance. The inner insole is fixed, for those who need to accommodate an orthopedic insole it might also be necessary to go up a size to get enough room inside.

Outsole

To ensure greater traction from the Under Armour SpeedForm Velociti, a hard rubber has been placed in specific areas of the outsole, which also allows for greater durability. To compensate for the hardness of the outsole, the sole has some cuts, especially in the forefoot area, which help the soles to be more flexible. Thanks to these features the soles do a good job on different types of wet or dry surfaces.

Performance wise the Velociti is a shoe that will offer firm cushioning, but will also be able to provide softness and a very good response on short sprints. Ideal for runners with slim feet, the Velocoti combines lightness and responsiveness in one package.
