The Xodus series is back and stronger than ever with these Saucony Xodus Ultra, a shoe that is clearly focused on long distances, aimed at trail runners looking for a wide, comfortable and cushioned shoe to spend hours, and even days wearing them.

The new trail running shoe from the American brand has undergone a real revolution, as seen in the improved last for greater comfort and cushioning, especially important in ultra-distance events. The sole has also been redesigned to withstand a large volume of kilometres over all types of terrain.

Undoubtedly, this is a model that deserves to be analysed in detail, so here we go!

Saucony Xodus Ultra, main features

Although we are talking about a long distance shoe, the Xodus Ultra from Saucony is able to offer great reactivity thanks to its midsole with ultra-light PWRRUN PB foam, which also provides resistance and support through the PWRRUN frame.

One of the unique aspects of this shoe and the reason why it's aimed at ultra distance is its new specific 6mm last that provides greater freedom for the toes. It has a large space that allows the foot not to be squeezed and lets the runner experience a feeling of comfort as the hours go by. Despite this, the structure is stable and reliable, providing a greater sense of security with every step.

Any trail running shoe intended for ultra distance must be very breathable, and these Xodus Ultra have a very minimalist upper that avoids hot spots and allows the foot to breathe and transpire properly. Despite this, Saucony hasn't forgetten toe protection and includes an improved anti-scratch plate.

The outsole of this trail running shoe for men and women features a new three-piece PWRTRAC outsole with 4.5mm lugs, which guarantee great grip and flexibility on all types of terrain.

Saucony Xodus Ultra, a tough model if ever there was one

The latest trail running shoe from Saucony have a 6mm drop and weigh 293g for men and 259g for women, a fairly light weight for a shoe focused on ultra distance. They go on sale for an RRP of €165.

We are sure this model is here to stay. The Xodus Ultra are focused on ultra runners looking for a comfortable, durable and very well cushioned shoe with the aim of completing mile after mile regardless of the pace. This shoe is made with sustainable materials and is likely to perform well on all types of terrain and conditions, but especially on more compact and less technical terrain.
