Year 2022

The imminent arrival of the Saucony Peregrine 12 on the market is eagerly anticipated by the fastest mountain runners ready to rack up miles and miles onthe roughest terrain. The latest update of this legendary Saucony series, named after the Peregrine Falcon, the fastest bird on Earth, burst onto the scene with very important changes which affect its weight and traction. We still have no official date for the release of the fastest and most comfortable version of this successful series but early reports point to a leap in quality.

The Saucony Peregrine 12 trail running shoe is one of those shoes that trail lovers look forward to at the start of the every season, and no wonder! It is a model designed for neutral runners looking to face mountain races and training in distances ranging from 10K to marathon. This twelfth edition brings major changes that affect key areas of the shoe which we at RUNNEA will analyse below.

Saucony Peregrine 12, main features

The Saucony Peregrine 12 is already out in the US market, but in Europe we still have to wait a few more weeks to get our hands on it. That said, we already know some of the main details of this new model - the fastest and most comfortable to date from this successful series.

Theshoe's three main new features can be summarised as follows: it weighs 35 grams lighter than its previous version, the Saucony Peregrine 11, a new tread pattern, and the incorporation of an anti-rock plate for improved protection.

The midsole incorporates PWRRUN foam, a compound that provides excellent responsiveness and agility on the most uneven terrain. This area of the shoe features the new anti-rock plate that ensures superior protection during ascents and descents.

The upper has also been redesigned to increase stability and comfort. Its new "bootie" construction allows a more anatomical fit for improved response at high speeds. A special mention must also go to the internal heel counter that adds stability to the shoe as a whole.

The 5 PWRTRAC rubber lugs adjust to different terrain profiles while ensuring excellent traction and exceptional grip.

Saucony Peregrine 12, technical specifications

All in all, there have been some major changes to Saucony's legendary Peregrine collection. Their weight has significantly reduced, and the result is a trail running shoe that is under 300 grams; balanced, stable and comfortable.

Although it is true that we still have to wait a few weeks to test these Peregrine 12 at RUNNEA, early feedback points to a leap in quality in this all-terrain shoe. As far as technical specifications are concerned, they have a 4mm drop and an approximate weight of 275 grams.
