Year 2017

Something is changing in the world of trail running, when there are major brands that are betting on greater segmentation, and try to offer the mountain runner specific models to cope with each type of terrain. The niche of trail running shoes with exclusive models for hard surfaces is already present in the market. And this is the case of Saucony that in its catalog already incorporates two versions of the same model, focused on this type of terrain. The Koa TR and the KOA ST. Both share the same characteristics in terms of midsole and upper; and the differences are more in the more or less aggressive design of their soles.

Saucony Koa TR, the most versatile model

And on this basis, in the specific case of the new Saucony Koa TR, in addition to having a more aggressive sole design, it also adds that it is the most versatile model of this new saga of the American firm for running in the mountains.

As for the outsole, the Saucony Koa TR features the company's signature PWRTRAC compound, in addition to incorporating a large number of multi-cushioned and not overly prominent studs. Thus, the composition of the outsole allows the Saucony Koa TR to defend with guarantees on the most compact terrains, and even on uneven surfaces, so safety and grip are more than guaranteed.

Great cushioning with optimal support

Another relevant section that ensures the Saucony Koa TR is that the runner can enjoy great cushioning, since this model of the American firm incorporates a full midsole of EVERUN, the exclusive material used in the most iconic models of Saucony both for its trail running shoes and for its wide range of running shoes on asphalt. And thanks to the EVERUN foam, the KOA TR not only provides a great feeling of cushioning underfoot, but also gives a greater energy return in each stride, and therefore the runner gets a better performance in the race.

On the other hand, the upper of the Saucony Koa TR draws attention because in its construction it combines Saucony s characteristic FlexFilm with an interwoven fabric and different thermo-seals. It is a somewhat peculiar upper construction but it improves the fit of the model, at the same time the lining wraps the foot, offering more protection.

The technical specifications of the Saucony Koa TR have a lowdrop of 4 millimeters, with a forefoot height of 18 mm and a heel height of 22 mm. Its weight is under 300 grams (292 grams), which allows us to talk about a rather light model.

To top it off, both the Saucony Koa TR and the Saucony Koa ST have the mission of filling the void left by the Nomad saga of the American brand.
