Salomon s S-Lab Sonic edition of shoes have been characterized as surprisingly lightweight road shoes designed for neutral runners; the shoes perform very efficiently on pavement, making them perfect for quality training or fast races of all distances.

The Salomon S-Lab Sonic 2 incorporates some updates to the cushioning system and outsole, but remains a shoe that features responsive cushioning, flexibility and durability.

Upper design

The upper of the shoe remains the same as the previous edition, even in color, with a mesh upper with large holes that allows for excellent airflow. This material, in addition to ensuring good ventilation, is also very lightweight.

To protect the mesh and add durability to the upper, some synthetic overlays and a synthetic protector have been placed in the toe area, which make up the Sensifit system; this design also allows the shoe to be correctly adjusted with the help of the laces, for which a traditional style continues to be used, allowing them to be tied in a better way.

On the inside of the Salomon S-Lab Sonic 2, the Endofit system is used, which is a padded cover that gives the inside a feeling as if you were wearing a sock for greater comfort throughout the race.

In terms of fit, the shoe stays true to size, just like the previous version. The shoe fits the foot properly without being restrictive and maintains good room in both the heel and toe areas.

Sizes are numbered taking men's measurements, however the shoe is unisex, so women may need one to one and a half sizes smaller to achieve a perfect fit.

Midsole

This is one of the parts of the shoe that receives changes for the second edition. To the EnergyCell compound that has already been used by the firm for other shoes , a new rubber has been added to form a surface with better shock absorption characteristics and greater durability.

This new rubber is located mainly in the heel area to help those runners whose foot strike first with this part of the foot. A light TPU layer is also placed between the midsole material and the outsole in the technology known as ProFeel Film, which helps to provide additional protection to the sole without reducing ground feel.

Outsole

In the case of the outsoles, the material continues to be Contragrip rubber, which has proven to be highly resistant to abrasion.

Although the shoes are designed for asphalt, this type of rubber allows excellent traction on different types of terrain, including some technical terrain.

The pattern of the soles has been renewed to allow greater flexibility of the shoe; horizontal and vertical grooves have been added which facilitate the natural movement of the foot in different directions.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the Salomon S-Lab Sonic 2 is a good choice for daily training and for runners looking for speed and lightness. Its soft and comfortable design is also very flexible and adapts naturally to the movements of the foot during the race; the traction offered by its soles offers a good response in different terrain conditions, adding versatility and functionality.
