Year 2018

The new Salomon S-Lab Sense Ultra2, are the completely renewed version of its predecessor, especially in its exterior. They become a versatile trail running shoes with greater protection, suitable for any runner and ideal for ultramarathons. Mainly designed for long-distance runners. Among other aspects, it is an ideal model for those who are concerned about keeping their feet safe on downhill runs. One of the points that has attracted the most attention is the innovative side straps that provide a superior fit.

Salomon S-Lab Sense Ultra2: fit and protection

In the construction of this sneaker, the midsole maintains some S-Lab Sense Ultra compounds, such as compressed EVA that provides dual density and EnergyGel+ together with EnergySave add a more durable cushioning. Overall, it's an improved experience for longer distances. It also helps to increase the protection of the shoe for the wearer, one of the main premises of this second version of the S-Lab Sense Ultra range.

The most important changes are found in the upper, where the company has opted for a complete redesign of the model. In fact, this model has been designed by Salomon to hug the foot in the most appropriate points. To do this, they have added side straps for superior support, something that also contributes to the Quicklace technology that keeps the foot locked and in a more secure way. In addition, they have chosen to use thicker materials in their confection, thus the Salomon S-Lab Sense Ultra 2 increases the durability and lightness of these trail running shoes.

On the outsole, the French manufacturer has maintained a similar construction, keeping the main compound in this area which is the Premium Wet Traction ContraGrip. This contributes to the extremely high level of traction that this trail running shoe has which is able to adapt to a multitude of conditions that the trail athlete must face, especially in ultra marathons. One of the points that they have decided to change is the distribution of the lugs, to facilitate descents in the mountains.

Finally, as far as technical specifications are concerned, this model has a drop of 8mm, i.e. it has been reduced compared to the previous model. On the other hand, the weight has been increased reaching 300gr, which is still an acceptable weight.
