Nike ZoomX Dragonfly Design and Construction
The Nike ZoomX Dragonfly is a track running spikeshoes designed for versatility and speed. These shoes are suitable for a variety of race distances, from 1500m to 10,000m on the track. The upper is a single-layer mesh that wraps the foot well and has a little stretch, but not enough to require readjustment after warm-ups or stretches. The lightweight mesh upper provides the breathability and support needed for long distance running.
Technical features.
The Nike ZoomX Dragonfly features a ZoomX midsole, the same one seen in the Nike Vaporfly and Alphafly. This material provides exceptional cushioning and a soft underfoot feel, which is quite unusual for a trail shoe. Despite its softness, the ZoomX foam is remarkably resilient and efficient, which helps protect the legs during longer runs.
In addition to the ZoomX foam, the Dragonfly also features a PEBAX spike plate that runs the entire length of the shoe. The PEBAX spike plate acts as a sort of rigid lever. This means that when you run and apply force to the shoe, the PEBAX spike plate helps maximize that force, propelling you forward more efficiently. This translates into a more responsive shoe, which means you can feel an extra boost or "bounce" when you run.
Despite this stiffness and aggressiveness (in terms of performance), the shoes still maintain the feel of a fairly comfortable trail shoe. This means that while they are designed for speed and efficiency, they still provide the comfort and support you would expect from a spikeless trail shoe.
The shoes include 6 removable spikes made of stainless steel with a height of 6.35mm. The weight of the shoes is around 125 grams, making them extremely light for a trail shoe.
