Year 2016

The Air Max series is one of the most revolutionary of Nike Running, and renews several sections with the arrival of its 2017 version. Although its great strengths remain unchanged from its successor the Air Max 2016, so support, breathability and soft cushioning remain its hallmarks, thanks to the perfect combination of its Flymesh upper and the Max Air unit. In this way, the new Nike Air Max 2017 ensures the ultimate in comfort, lightness and durability.

Ultra-lightweight support

Point for point, its ultra-lightweight support is a direct consequence of the Flymesh upper, constructed in a single piece and in the areas where it is needed most. In addition, the full Max Air unit not only causes the shoe to provide flexible and soft cushioning, but also maximum comfort. A comfort that is reinforced by the updated ankle area, which is now softer. In addition, the midsole includes the Cushlon system that softens the cushioning capacity, and is also able to offer impact protection.

On the other hand, and somewhat more visible is that the Nike Air Max 2017 has a more pronounced heel area than in previous versions. Such a circumstance brings the characteristic Nike logo back to its original place on the side of the shoe, and not shifted towards the toe of the shoe as it was on the Air Max 2016.

Another detail that does not disappear in the Air Max 2017 is its visible air chamber, which extends throughout the sole of this shoe, and also serves to give this successful model of Nike Running a characteristic feature of personality. Not to mention its rubber outsole, grofe type, which offers superior traction on different terrains, while increasing its resistance in the areas of greatest wear.

Simplified upper

This is one of the significant changes that will be seen in these shoes. Nike has decided to leave behind the Flywire design with the laces visible on the sides of the shoe and replace it with a simpler "ribbed" design that is located where the laces used to be.

The new construction of the shoe is intended to provide greater comfort and also allow the shoe to fit better even to those runners with wider feet who may have encountered some problems with the fit of the previous versions, being a bit narrower.

The material used for the upper remains that of the previous edition, which proved to be very soft on contact with the foot and quite comfortable during the run. The mesh extends only in the forefoot section, however the Nike Aire Max 2017 shoe maintains the good ventilation that had been seen in the previous editions.

Increased flexibility

Waffle pattern outsoles continue to be the soles of choice for this version of the Air Max, a configuration that did a good job when it comes to traction, and even with weight distribution during ground contact.

Nike makes use of BRS 1000 rubber, which is a hard material that gives the outsole exceptional durability. Gender-specific grooves have also been designed to bring greater flexibility to the shoe overall.
