When it comes to joining concepts and philosophies such as trail running and Mizuno, the result is specific models for running in the mountains, which ensure maximum safety and traction in every step you take in the mountains. And the Japanese Running shoes manufacturer has in its Wave Hayate, Wave Mujin and Wave Daichi collections its true flagships when it comes to talking about running in the mountains with the best sensations and maximum guarantees.

Stopping at the Mizuno Wave Mujin saga there is already a new update, and the latest version that is on the market is, no more and no less, than the fourth one. This installment is based on the fundamentals that have worked with great success in the previous model of the Mizuno Wave Mujin 3, and thus, the improved revision of the Mizuno Wave Mujin 4 is embodied in its upper to provide a more secure and comfortable fit, and to improve the experience of the trail runner in his mountain routes.

Strong points of Mizuno Wave Mujin 4

In the same line as the previous version, the Mizuno Wave Mujin 4 maintains a superior performance for mountain running, thanks to its protection, grip and comfort features. The most outstanding point of this Wave Mujin 4 continues to be that it has a Michelin outsole with all that this entails. The rubber compound of the outsole is inspired by the "Wild Mud" tire, which comes from the tires of mountain bikes, and whose mission is to provide an excellent level of traction and grip. This aspect is achieved by a design - including a self-cleaning tread pattern - capable of adapting to all types of terrain and conditions.

In addition to the Michelin outsole, the Mizunos Wave Mujin 4 also features another series of technologies, a trademark of the company, which make it an ideal model for long-distance runners, including ultras. On the one hand, the XtaRide technology, especially in reference to the Wave Concave system, whose particular arrangement, in the form of a fan at midfoot height, provides extra protection and stability. And on the other hand, the Xta Groove system, whose virtues are palpable through a safe flex channel so that the foot adapts to any surface without any difficulty.

All in all, it can be said that the Mizuno Wave Mujin 4 is characterized by offering a magnificent grip and multidirectional traction, and also without adding an extra gram to the overall weight of the shoe. By the way, in reference to the safety aspect, and just like the Wave Mujin 3, this latest version of Mizuno 's trail model also comes with the ESS Rock Plate in the forefoot, which protects from possible impact against rocks and stones.

Needless to say, the cushioning capacity of the Mizuno Wave Mujin 4 is ensured by a midsole that combines the Wave platform and the U4iC compound, making it a lighter, more comfortable and higher performing model.

What changes in the Mizuno Wave Mujin 4

Basically all changes in the new update of the Mizuno Wave Mujin 4 are reflected in a new design of the upper of the shoe. In this sense, the idea of the Japanese brand is none other than to improve its fit, and hence it has opted to incorporate an upper with a newly constructed lining to ensure maximum protection.

In addition, these Wave Mujin 4 also have a network of crossed straps in the front of the shoe to make the fit more secure, and prevent internal slippage of the foot.

And all of this is enhanced with integrated DynamotionFit technology, which provides optimal comfort by minimizing the effects of stress on the lateral areas; and a great fit; while helping to extend the life of the shoe.

The Mizuno Wave Mujin 4 has a 12 mmdrop(22 mm in the heel and 10 mm in the forefoot) and weighs 355 grams for the men's model (size 42) and 310 grams for the women's version (size 38.5). Also not to be missed is the version of the Mizuno Wave Mujin 4 GTX with Gore-Tex membrane to make it a waterproof option.

In short, the new update of the Mizuno Wave Mujin 4 continues to have its raison d'être in an "ultrera" shoe for the most demanding trail runners who run long distances, and require a model with maximum protection, grip and durability, and without sacrificing comfort.
