Year 2015

The second generation of the Mizuno Wave Kien continues to maintain that line of being an ideal model for runners who take their first steps in the world of trail running, or who go out to run in the mountains in more sporadic ways. Like its predecessor, versatility is one of the most relevant features of the Mizuno Wave Kien 2, since it allows combining mountain terrain with asphalt sections in short runs.

This second version of the Wave Kien also features Mizuno's most advanced technologies. Thus, the concave shape of its exclusive Wave system, together with the XtaticRide, make the shoe more stable, and better adapted to the different surfaces where you run. This section is reinforced with the Midfoot Groove technology, a flexion channel in the shape of an X, which contributes to a better adaptation of the foot to the terrain.

We should also not forget another of the sections that work very well in the Wave Kien family, such as the outsole, which has X-shaped lugs and the X10 system, the most durable solid rubber compound of the Japanese brand. Both systems improve the shoe's grip, traction and durability.

New features of the Mizuno Wave Kien 2

Compared to its predecessor, the Mizuno Wave Kien 2 incorporates important new features that should be taken into account. First of all, its Airmesh upper, very breathable, has been improved with more reinforcements to provide the model with greater support and protection.

However, the most relevant innovation of the Wave Kien 2 is in its midsole, which has been made with EL8. This material is lighter than EVA - the Japanese brand says it is 10% lighter - and increases its cushioning performance. The great advantage of this new material is that the weight of the Wave Kien 2 is reduced to 295 grams, but it also offers a greater energy return for a more efficient and smoother run. Its drop is 12 millimeters.

All in all, the Mizuno Wave Kien 2 is suitable for runners with a neutral stride, and light-medium weight -up to 75 kilos-, who like to combine the sensations of running on the mountain and asphalt.
