The Hoka One One Speed Instinct is the Hoka edition that many runners have been waiting for; this trail running shoe is a perfect combination of speed and cushioning, with an excellent feel for the terrain.

Until now, Hoka had already surprised users with a good line of trail running shoes that quickly became favorites, such as the Clifton or the ATR, however, despite the good features of these shoes, one detail that still needed to be improved era the fit, as the shoes felt too tight and could be restrictive for some runners.

This aspect has been improved in the Speed Instinct, an edition in which a wider construction has been created that allows for greater ease of movement to the foot, but still keeps it as secure as possible during runs on uneven surfaces, although the shoes are better suited to terrain that is not too technical.

Upper Hoka One One Speed Instinct

The upper of these shoes incorporates a seamless mesh covered by a mesh, which offer good ventilation and keep the weight light; in addition to this the materials are very flexible and adapt to the movements that the foot makes as if it were a fabric.

Although this mesh gives the sensation of being only a design component and not having a real functionality, the truth is that it allows a greater support for the foot, especially when running downhill, since it keeps the upper adjusted in a correct way.

As mentioned, these shoes feature a wider fit than other Hoka editions, this creates greater comfort during long runs. The comfort is complemented by a padded tongue and collar, while the flat laces allow you to adjust the shoe and keep everything in place.

Midsole

The Hoka One One Speed Instinct shoes use the Pro2Lite +10 EVA Cushioning System, which has the characteristic of being softer in the heel area and firmer in the forefoot area. While this may not be fully noticeable when wearing the shoes, it does offer benefits to the runner, mainly in the heel-to-toe transition, which feels fluid yet cushioned.

With this cushioning, the shoes become perfect for fast runners who have any metatarsal or other issues in the forefoot area and have not been able to find a trail running shoe that offers decent cushioning.

Outsole

The outsoles are made of a carbon-based rubber, to which multi-directional lugs have been added to adapt to a variety of terrains. The lugs maintain their good characteristics when running on asphalt terrain and also allow for a comfortable run on uneven surfaces.

With a 3drop the shoe stays very close to what a natural running shoe would be, making it an ideal shoe for speed, but still maintains some level of cushioning to protect the foot from contact with surfaces.

The Hoka One One Speed Instinct is among Hoka s few drop editions and is very similar to the Hoka Tracer, the company's lowest and lightest running shoe. The Speed Instinct are ideal for testing on moderately technical surfaces, offering good ground feel, efficient cushioning and above all comfort.
