Year 2016

The fourth version of the Bondi from Hoka One One is designed along the lines of its predecessors, with the idea of guaranteeing a smooth ride and a superior level of cushioning. The construction and technologies used for the design of these shoes provide better response, comfort and support on asphalt terrain, although they also adapt very well to more uneven terrain, without greater technical difficulty.

Although they only have a 4 mmdrop, it is worth noting that this model falls squarely into the "maximalist" footwear segment, with a height of 29 mm in the forefoot and 33 mm in the heel. And this is a factor to take into account, if you are not used to the foot being higher off the ground.

Perfect fit

Those who have already experienced the fit feeling that the Bondi 3 shoes offered, will find in this new edition an almost similar fit, with some optimizations in the upper construction. The mesh upper of these shoes has a very lightweight construction, which also allows for excellent airflow through the shoe for very noticeable breathability.

In addition to the mesh, the upper utilizes Lycra ComfortFrame, which is a lycra fiber that conforms to the foot as if you were wearing a sock. This material not only allows the shoes to be worn without socks, but also offers greater comfort and, thanks to its ability to stretch and return to its original shape, allows the shoes to last longer.

To provide greater support both in the medial and lateral areas, the Hoka One One Bondi 4 comes with a TPU piece in the heel area, which provides more stability during the race. A very practical detail, considering that these shoes do not have special support for the arch area.

Softer midsole

The midsole of these shoes is made of a new EVA foam with softer characteristics, which allows the shoe to be up to 30% softer when the foot hits the ground than with traditional EVA foam. The so-called Early-stage Meta-rocker technology is positioned just behind the metatarsal head, which provides greater propulsion of the foot during toe-off and a comfortable transition of movement.

Traction of the soles

The soles of the Hoka One One Bondi 4 are made of a highly abrasion-resistant, yet lightweight rubber that keeps the weight of this edition of the Bondi comfortable while providing good response to the wear and tear caused by frequent use.

The 10 Deg Heel Bevel technology, also found in the outsole, maintains the flexibility of the model, with a smoother transition from heel to toe. At the same time, this feature makes the outsole much more resistant to ground contact compared to previous editions.
